Gili Lankanfushi: Weird and Wonderful
http://www.lankanfushi.com/p/weird-and-wonderful.html
The corals themselves are weird and wonderful. However, there are some life-forms and life-styles that just stand out of the crowd. The Blue Streak Cleaner Wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus. This relationship might seem rather bizarre at first glance, but it not only fulfils the dietary requirements of a cleaner fish, but it also keeps the big fishes' health in-check. Even giant Manta rays come to the “cleaning stations” to use this valuable service. Lazy free-loaders and their eating habits. Since 2012, Gili...

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. We love “Iruvai” Season! Stunning fusiliers. Credit to Brad Calder. Unlike more temperate latitudes that experience four seasons in a year, the Maldives only experiences two –Southwest Monsoon (also known in the local language as “Hulhangu”) and Northeast Monsoon (“Iruvai”), and both of these have significant benefits for diving and snorkelling. Brad, our very own Resort Manager, took this particular shot with beautiful fusiliers. Jon - Dive Centre Base Leader. What Can You Do?

http://www.lankanfushi.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 23, 2015. Last week at one of our favourite dive sites, Manta Point, Maldivian Dive Master Shakeeb along with one very lucky guest encountered a true spectacle of nature! We are very lucky at Gili Lankanfushi to see Mobula Rays on a regular basis. These are close relatives of the Manta Rays, and the most common species here is the Short-fin Devil Ray ( Mobula kuhlii. However what these fortunate divers witnessed was like something out of National Geographic. Jon - Dive Centre Base Leader.
