The Librarian at Law. Monday, October 24, 2011. Fee vs. Hourly Rate. A recent post by Toby Brown in 3 Geeks and a Law Blog - When Raising Rates. Discusses the difference between increasing hourly rates and the final fee for the work performed. Brown says:. Have conversations with clients about pricing, versus rates. At the end of the year, or end of a case, what really matters to a client is the fee. How much did the case or deal cost them? Labels: http:/ www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif.

The Librarian at Law: April 2011

http://librarianatlaw.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

The Librarian at Law. Saturday, April 23, 2011. Part of the Kindle and Libraries Problem Solved. Readers of this blog may recall a previous post. Regarding Kindles and libraries. That post pointed out two library problems associated with Kindles - loaning the Kindle itself and allowing eBooks to be downloaded (loaned) to the reader's Kindle from the library. The key factor - think "market forces" - appears to be summarized rather neatly in this simple observation by Bosman:. Links to this post. SSRN - th...

The Librarian at Law. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. On Tuesday morning, Justice Scalia was in a minor fender-bender on the George Washington Parkway. Never one to do things halfheartedly, Scalia's driving error caused damage to four cars including his own. No one was injured. You can read all about it in several locations - Gawker. Above the Law here. And the Washington Post. Links to this post. Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Preview of Lexis Advance for Associates. The preview and some cogent analysis. When combi...

Sunday, November 15, 2009. I decided to wrap up my blog by suggesting other blogs that may be of interest to paralegal students. I’ve grouped them according to topic /audience and included a brief description of each blog’s purpose. I hope that you’ll find some of them of informative and even helpful in your legal careers. Be sure to read all the disclaimers though, and do some fact-checking when necessary. 8211; because we all need to laugh. Http:/ www.litination.com/2008/07/disclaimer.html. The Librari...

Librarian At Large

Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Adventure Vacation, September 9 - 12, 2011. It was supposed to be a 2½-day trip up north to bike the Sparta-Elroy Trail. For Ann and me, but she revealed she’d taken Monday off work and could leave at noon on Friday, so I hatched a last-minute plan to turn a biking weekend into a total adventure weekend. I cannot say enough nice things about Speed’s Bike Shop. I love those people. And, we were off! That didn’t last, I should warn. At 1,694 feet, or roughly ⅓ of a mile...

Friday, August 24, 2007. The End is Here! It has been a long journey, but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! As a roller coaster; definite highs with some activities that I loved, as well as some lows where I felt like I was wasting my time. But isn't that the way learning happens? Dragged me kicking and screaming into Library 2.0, yet I find myself embracing the technology that I've learned on this adventure. I hope the library continues to do programs like this.
