Hull is famous for being a fishing port and for being the second-most-bombed English city in World War II —(after London). I studied for a degree in Geology at Durham University. Durham cathedral, also almost 1,000 years old, is perched on a hill above the River Wear and has beautiful carved stone pillars and the remains of the Venerable Bede.
