Recovering iPad photos to MacBook Pro - MacBook Pro. Recovering iPad photos to MacBook Pro. Recovering iPad photos to MacBook Pro. Mar 1st, 2011 @ 12:12 am. Here's the case, and it's rather personal. My mom's iPad had her personal photos on it, uploaded from her computer. She loved her iPad very much. My mom passed away suddenly and my dad gave me mom's iPad. These are the only photos I have of her now, so I'd very much like to get them off her iPad and onto my laptop (Mac Book Pro). I have the iPad here...

Joy from despair - adventures in academia. 21 July 2009 @ 04:55 pm. Two months ago I'd failed to get the British Academy fellowship, and was pretty much out of prospects for next year. I came back to Oxford Friday, loaded up the in-laws' car on Saturday morning with stuff from the house that would accompany them on the road trip to Zurich, and spent Sunday in the Pembury Tavern getting people (specifically,. To distract me from the prospect of Monday's interview. My first feeling that this might all go o...

Crossing the Atlantic, kid in tow - adventures in academia. 22 October 2011 @ 02:32 am. Crossing the Atlantic, kid in tow. Seems that I mostly use this journal for communicating with people I knew before 2003, anymore. There must be some sort of social networking archaeology point in here, somewhere. Anyway, this is by way of announcing that Sophie and I will be visiting Boston in a couple of weeks (6-15 November) and would love to see people! The purpose of the trip is that. 3 nomismata Toss a coin.

On the job market again - Somewhat. Nov 7th, 2009. On the job market again. Well, Current Employer has finally gone well and truly crazy, and it's time for me to restart the old job hunt. Basically, they ran out of money without warning anybody, and decided to furlough the entire Cambridge office over the next couple of months, starting next week. Surprise! But wait, there's more! November 7th, 2009 05:33 pm (UTC). This furlough is in effect a layoff with no severance. November 7th, 2009 05:39 pm (UTC).

K-9 - An android mutt. I swore to myself that I wouldn't get a T-Mobile G1. That.didn't work so well. I picked mine up after lunch on release day. I knew I wasn't going to be happy with the stock mail client, but I had no idea how.not ready it was. The total dealbreaker for me was that it didn't have keybindings for simple things like delete. And then I discovered that the Email application doesn't yet know how to propagate message deletion back to an IMAP server. Right now, K-9 has reasonable keybinding...

I've just found out that my company will turn back into a pumpkin ("suspend active operations") on the 30th. Three and a half weeks to take down the sites, shut down the networks, stick the demos on autopilot, raid the phone buckets for spare parts, and so forth. Anyway, this also means that I'm back on the job market. My resumé can be found here. September 5th, 2008 01:24 pm (UTC). So how do you...
