The Concord-Carlisle Nanae Network hosted a Pot Luck dinner. This was a wonderful celebration of the friendship between the three towns. Set up on two tables was a wonderful array of food ranging from traditional Japanese food to Chicken Cacciatore, to pizza to a selection of donuts from Mister Donuts. At the potluck, Robin connected with Diana over Skype.

I sit writing yesterday’s entry while looking out over plush green conical mountains in Jozenkei. We departed Nanae at about 9:00 am after an emotional send-off. After days of wonderful weather, fog clouded our views of the rolling Pacific Ocean and the incredible mountains and valleys. Security along the highway was quite intense. Rocky and Do-Mo were glad to be relaxing in their pack.

Day here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Starting off the day was an official welcoming ceremony from the Nanae city officials. They presented each of us with a beautiful kimono. While we were in the conference room, we learned about the history of Nanae. Nanae is only 50 years old. It was formed when seven villages came together to form Nanae.
