Journals of an American Teacher in China
As For Me...: December 2009
http://jesscusterinchina.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Journals of an American Teacher in China. Friday, December 18, 2009. In China, "Coffee Shop" may very well mean "bar". So when someone asks you (or Zack) to come out to their coffee shop, they may be inviting you to go a loud, smoky bar that serves alcohol and no coffee, but has a sign in the front that reads "Coffee Shop.". Thursday, December 17, 2009. I'm a person, ya know! I guess it's just been one of those days. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Im a person, ya know! View my complete profile.
As For Me...: September 2010
http://jesscusterinchina.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Journals of an American Teacher in China. Friday, September 24, 2010. A Night on the Town. Last night I decided to treat my friends, Daisy and Lucinda (their English names), to dinner at Pizza Hut, being that they had never eaten at said fine establishment- Oh, who am I kidding? Ironically, I didnt even mean it as a joke. Without even realizing it, I had looked at people that look similar to me, and called them outsiders, inadvertently and erroneously considering myself on the inside. We then cross throu...
As For Me...: November 2009
http://jesscusterinchina.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Journals of an American Teacher in China. Friday, November 27, 2009. So what if it's the day after? This year, I'm thankful for. Chickity China the Chinese Chicken. Yes, chicken. You're not Turkey, but you're close enough. My siblings and friends in the States. You write me emails, you send me facebook messages, you pray for me, you talk to me on Skype, you demand my mailing address from me, and if you're reading this, you even read my blog. And lastly, Western Toilets. Self-explanatory. November 19, 200...
As For Me...: (S)Mothered
http://jesscusterinchina.blogspot.com/2010/12/smothered.html
Journals of an American Teacher in China. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. In less than two weeks Im not just losing a place that Ive called home for 14 months, Im losing about a billion moms in my life. This mothering certainly rubbed me a bit in the wrong way for a while. Okay, sometimes it still does. But because Im leaving soon Im going to view everything about China through rose colored glasses. Deal with it. Hows it gonna be? Cue Third Eye Blind song). Ill miss you, Mama China. Taxi - 出租车 (Chūzū chē).
As For Me...: There are no goodbyes in heaven, right?
http://jesscusterinchina.blogspot.com/2010/12/there-are-no-goodbyes-in-heaven-right.html
Journals of an American Teacher in China. Sunday, December 19, 2010. There are no goodbyes in heaven, right? It finally hit me tonight. . Im not going to see these people, again. Im saying goodbye to the most difficult, unique, and beautiful chapter of my life so far. Last night and tonight have been my first final goodbyes to some friends. The bestowing of farewell gifts has begun, and I feel bad knowing that most of them wont make the final cut into my suitcase. January 16, 2011 at 5:55 PM.

Zack and Elizabeth: May 2010
http://zackandelizabeth.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
May 30, 2010. I promised all of you that I would blog more often. However, I've found this is easier said than done. I guess it's because we've been here so long. Two years isn't an exciting experience with new and exciting things to write about. It has become our regular life. How do I write about things that have become so ordinary for me? Even though it's only 8 am, most of them have already been awake for 3 hours. I muster up an appropriate level of gusto, and call out, Good morning, class! PJs = nig...

Jessica Cutler
Who is Jess Cutler? July 20, 2015. Being a professional cyclist can be a lonely job. Every week I spend hours and hours alone on the bike riding hard, not riding hard, wishing I had more friends to ride with, and listening to audibooks. It’s because of all this alone time that I’m a huge fan of the cyclist wave or the #waveback. Doing the wave back is super easy and I’ve written a simple step by step process on how to do the #waveback. Step 1: Ride Bike. You should already know how to do this. Print this...

September 7, 2015 · 1:09 am. Fathers Day and a Long Absence. So its only been What? 16 months since my last post? To be frank i’ve been a little busy. I’ve been rather lazy when it comes to drawing. But at least my RSI is kinda behaving, so at least theres that. (Kinda? As long as I don’t stress it out and take lots of breaks and keep a nice steady pace? Can you call that behaving? More interesting things to blog about! Remember that degree in Sydney I said I was about to start in my last post? My lectur...
shift | because the only thing constant is change
Because the only thing constant is change. How to not die. Why “shift”? March 29, 2018. March 29, 2018. I should have written this post a few days ago. I tried. But this darn thing called “work” kept getting in the way. Ragnar was amazing. I didn’t expect it to be. In fact, in the weeks leading up to the event, I was worried about sleep deprivation and missing work and school and wondered why I’d signed up. Outside the Blue Chair coffee shop after our first run. Ohhh That’s not. And so on.). I always pus...
