February 21st, 2012. I've been thinking about diet a lot since going back to work is going to mean having food planned out in advance, something I SUCK AT. And by "diet" I mean "what we eat", not "restricting what we eat", just fyi. Anyway, over the years I've really whittled down our food to good options. I went shopping today to get a few things and my cart had the following items in it:. 15% milk (me and the kids). Organic soy milk (husband). Paprika (I need this for beef stew :). Raw cubed stew beef.

January 16th, 2012. We had a snow day yesterday - it wasn't all that bad (probably because we just stayed home and didn't try to go anywhere) but the schools closed before the snow even started flying as a pre-emptive measure. Some days, especially snow days, the kids just cannot be in the same room together. They are constantly bouncing off of one another and fighting always ensues. January 20th, 2012. Fridays in the car have started to become sort of an open forum. I pack Margaret up around 7:30 and go to pick Michael up from gymnastics. February 21st, 2012. God, I have to say in the past week and a day being AWAY from my old job has been liberating as hell. It's sunny today and I've got the shades open and I actually feel happy. Tomorrow I'll brown the meat and get it in the slow cooker, there's not going to be much seasoning on it at all so hopefully the kids don't have any reason not to like it. You can see a good deal of what is going on there from the road, we were able to look at a couple of ships in cross-section being worked on as well as all the cranes out over the water and a giant blue barge. It involves mixing up a crapton of dye and was very fiddly but I think the results are worth it.
