Gator Book Chomp: December 2014
http://gatorbookchomp.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. So, I'm a little conflicted about this book. The characters and the design skew a bit young, but this is a Dark book. Yes, that capital D is intentional. I'm just not sure what to do with it. It looks like a 6th grade book and reads like an 8th grade book. I'll just have to see what happens. About halfway through the book, things take a (not so) surprising turn which I won't reveal in the interest of not spoiling the story. But the twist at the end I did not see coming.

Robin Writes: Middle Grade Monday with J.A. White and THE THICKETY
http://robin-hall-writes.blogspot.com/2014/07/middle-grade-monday-with-ja-white-and.html
Monday, July 7, 2014. Middle Grade Monday with J.A. White and THE THICKETY. Israel Hall here, taking over Mom's blog again. I read THE THICKETY and then told Mom even she would like it. She did, so we emailed J.A. White. And he let me interview him. Read below, and then read THE THICKETY. You won't regret it. It is full of a ton of surprises. What do you think is the worst thing that Grace did? JA: Grace really is awful, isn’t she? Her later actions are evil, of course, but that is just flat-out mean.

Auld School Librarian: The Thickety Review
http://auldschoollibrarian.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-thickety-review.html
Book reviews, crafts, blether. Friday, May 22, 2015. The rules of magic in this world are unlike anything I've read before and at times it can seem a bit confusing or arbitrary. I'll be interested to see how the mythology and magic of this world develops in the second book. Every book its reader:. I'd give this to students 5th and up looking for a fantasy adventure novel with strong characterization. Magic, fantasy, witches, outsiders. There's a book trailer by the publisher on YouTube:. Or check it out.
