McKinnons Flats (May 6 '06)
McKinnons Flats (May 6 '06). Geocaching at McKinnons Flats. It's a beautiful, warm day to be geocaching at McKinnons Flats, a Watchable Wildlife site on the Bow River, southeast of Calgary. The only wildlife we saw was Calvin, though. Looking east on the Bow River. Looking west on the Bow River. Looking for the 'cache. Hiking through the hoodoos. Hidden in a cave. Calvin is getting tired. As are Donnie Darko and Baby, whom Coreen has to carry. It's worth the climb. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Mexican vacation (Jan. 12 - 18 '07)
Mexican vacation (Jan. 12 - 18 '07). I was up with the sun at 6:30AM. Well, "up" in the sense that I had moved from my bed to the hammock outside. It was 26C, humid, and peaceful, even with the crash of the ocean waves on the Caribbean shore a few metres away. Was this a dream? It feels like it now, except for where I'm still getting chafed by the beach sand. Off to Mexico (Jan. 12 '07). Our vacation was not off to a great start. I suppose I should have read some more to know what to expect but we'd.

Building a Computer Lab / Evil Lair
Building a Computer Lab / Evil Lair. Ceilings, floors, and more. Back to my blog. Saturday, March 17, 2007. Building a Computer Lab / Evil Lair. Donnie Darko wanted his own bedroom, mostly to have a place to keep his own stuff. So I was evicted from my nice upstairs office. There was one corner of the basement where I'd been storing my computer equipment, and I decided it was time to turn it into a proper lab. Click on an entry in my Journal. In the sidebar, or. Bowness Park
A park, a 'cache, a tasty burger. Back to my blog. Sunday, June 3, 2007. 2007 is our year of the Burger Quest. We're looking for the best burger joint in Calgary. For comparison purposes, the A&W. Teen Burger will be considered the Standard Canadian Burger. So far we've tried Peters' Drive-In. Peters' burgers are my favourite so far, but Coreen and the kids were not impressed by them. Anyway, we decided to look for a geocache today. I think this is our first 'cache of 2007. Well, we made our way to nearb...

Shakers and Pumpkins
Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Time to carve the pumpkins for Hallowe'en. Baby wanted a kitty pumpkin. It required some planning. Pumpkin chunks. ugh. I left it a bit late this year, so Coreen cleaned out Baby's pumpkin and mine while I was at work. I tried something different this year for my pumpkin. It was supposed to look like Frankenstein's monster, based on the famous photo of Boris Karloff. In the role, but it didn't really work that well. Still, they all looked pretty cool in the dark.

Connections
Sunday, January 6, 2008. The new TV is mounted to the wall above the shelf where the old one sat. When my Dad built that shelf I don't think he intended it to hold a TV, and as the shelf was beginning to sag a bit it's a relief to get the TV off of there. The VCR, DVD player, funky retro rabbit-ears, and speakers are all connected to the TV (it's nice not having to use a separate remote control for the sound) but I've replaced the MythTV with the kids' former PC running the free and excellent GB-PVR.

The Basement Window
Sunday, October 7, 2007. There are a couple of spare rooms in the basement which — when we moved in. Had pink carpet on the floors. We had taken out the last of that carpet in preparation for laminate (the same stuff I used for the computer lab. But first we wanted to put windows in those rooms as well. The kids helped to stamp down the dirt in the hole as Coreen started adding gravel for drainage. Beautiful day to be working outside. We'll get right on that, I'm sure. after. We've figured out what will ...
