Imaging The Heavens - Image Processing
http://www.imagingtheheavens.co.uk/page12.htm
Image Gallery ▼. A Typical Night Of Imaging. Image Processing ▼. Imaging by stages ▼. Levelling and basic alignment. An example of basic image processing. A Typical Night Of Imaging. I have only recently delved into astroimaging so my skills compared to some of the experts are fairly limited at the moment. However that is part of the fun of this hobby in that you pick up tips as you go on and you learn with practice. Imaging The Heavens created at www.mrsite.com.

Image Gallery ▼. A Typical Night Of Imaging. Image Processing ▼. Imaging by stages ▼. Levelling and basic alignment. My Routine For Setting Up And Imaging For A Night. A Typical Night Of Imaging. Astrophotographers around the world will have their own routine for setting their equipment up for the night and the different stages involved in capturing data. This is what I do for a typical nights imaging. 5 When it is dark enough I switch the laptop, dew heater and mount on. 6 Start the Sky 6 software and e...

Suburban Skies: June 2009
http://suburban-skies.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 June 2009. From my bedroom window looking towards the Thames Valley at around 11.15 this evening. By the time I'd dashed downstairs to get a tripod for my camera, the display of luminous blue streamers had all but dissipated. If these were indeed the noctilucent clouds I've heard rumour of (and they look like it from the photos of others), this is the first time I've seem them for real. Posted by Suburban Skies. Monday, 13 July 2009. NLCs over Thames Valley. Click on image for larger view. Noctilucent clouds put on a great show last night (July 12th). This was the view from my drive at around 10.30 BST, looking north-west. I grabbed a series of shots through a Sony Cybershot on auto (camera on a tripod this time) and put two frames together in a mosaic to give the above panorama. Posted by Suburban Skies. SXV-H9, Zeiss 135mm telephoto lens @ f3.5 (40 mm aperture), ATIK filter wheel with Ha, G&B filters. 40 x 200s 2x2 binned subframes in H alpha, 12 x 200s 2x2 binned in G, 5 in B, 16 darks, 16 flats/flat darks in Ha, calibrated and stacked in AIP4Win. Final processing in AstroArt, Paint Shop Pro7 and NeatImage. Did quite a reasonable job in cleaning it up. From Greg Parker's ...

Suburban Skies: September 2008
http://suburban-skies.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 25 September 2008. SXV-H9, Soligor 200mm telephoto lens. 20 x 180s subframes at full resolution, 16 darks, 16 flats/flat darks, calibrated and stacked in AIP4Win. The stars are rather bloated and I think it may be down to the lens really not being too good in terms of chromatic aberration (see Great Andromeda Nebula. And whilst some of the famed nebulosity is visible, there isn't as much of it as the experts. No nebulosity, but nice stars. Posted by Suburban Skies. Links to this post. At last, ...
Suburban Skies: October 2008

Friday, 31 October 2008. Messier 101, NGC 5457. 175 million light years. SXV-H9, Vixen ED114 refractor (f.l. 600mm). 60 x 90s 2x2 binned subframes, 16 darks, 16 flats/flat darks, calibrated and stacked in AIP4Win. My notes record that this wasn't the greatest night for imaging, as a high haze set in whilst I was setting up. Nevertheless, the brighter inner coils of this galaxy (whose full apparent diameter in the sky is nearly that of the full moon) can be seen quite well. Posted by Suburban Skies. 40 x ...

Imaging the Path – Nothing for me that does not be for others
Nothing for me that does not be for others. Do couples without children make sense? There is not only a need for couples that breed children, but also a need for couples with creations that transcend themselves. What seems to have no meaning is a couple that does not share any common creation. Even though we (Carmen and Paco) have not bred any children we’ve created a writer, he who writes these lines, who is a mixture of both. Does it make sense to define a couple as therapy? There is no doubt that life...
