Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. May 31, 2002. Welcome to my blog, "Random Scribblings." Take a trip into my stream of conscious mind and enjoy my schizophrenic rambling about my crazy life and my boyfriend and my cat. My boyfriend's name is Ethan. My cat's name is "Blog." Last night I was SO MAD because Jen and Kev didn't come to the Coldplay show! I heard they were home watching Ghost World AGAIN. Ah well hehe. Got to go, big photography final tomorrow! May 30, 2002.

Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. March 27, 2002. It's Passover, and there's a humongous bottle of Chilean cabernet on the dining room table. It's not Manischewitz (oh, gimme a break, I like that stuff), but I'm getting a considerable buzz from it. Should I feel guilty that I'm using this religious symbol of suffering to ease my own? No It's only a symbol. And what's the crime about wanting to feel good on a holiday? News item number two: I'm hoping to get a tattoo! I'm not ...

Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. October 31, 2002. Thanks to The Rub. For the mp3 of Entrance covering one of my all-time faves, "Love in Vain." I don't know anything about this Entrance guy, but I like what I hear (the mangled wail, the choppy/strummy guitar) - I just hope he's not another dour country luddite like Ryan Adams or Will Oldham. Posted by squalor @ 12:55 PM. 1) What of the self-interview as a literary form? 2) You've said that you seek out bloggers that bypass the usual garden of solipsisms and self-indulgences; what's your explanation for the fetid mulch bore deep into your own particular garden? I have a better vocabulary. Posted by squalor @ 10:44 AM. April 29, 2002. April 28, 2002.

Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. December 27, 2002. I don't usually measure a review's success according to whether it makes me want to investigate the work being critiqued; I figure that if I'm not convinced, it's my. Problem, not the reviewer's. But there goes Glenn McDonald. Again, piquing my interest in something regarding which I'd hitherto only had the scantest amount of curiosity. Posted by squalor @ 12:10 PM. December 24, 2002. Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. August 31, 2002. The new band wasn't half-bad, but I have reservations about calling them "Guns 'n' Roses" - that's like having a stepfather insist that you address him as "dad." It's just weird looking up at the stage, seeing Axl, and NOT seeing Slash, Izzy, and Duff. I never thought of it as singluarly Axl's. Been doing, besides working on Chinese Democracy. Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. July 31, 2002. Link courtesy of Flaskaland. Update: I've been looking at some other work by Charlotte Robinson, the author of the Kinks article. She's interviewed some very cool people, like Roberta Bayley. And Tish and Snooky Bellomo. I never get tired of reading about these people, as cliche as that whole "New York punk" thing is now. Posted by squalor @ 11:46 AM. I mostly agree with Douglas Wolk's Village Voice. Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. June 30, 2002. Posted by squalor @ 10:30 PM. June 29, 2002. Doesn't anyone love the highway? Other than the college founders? All the carpoolers and Ground Rounders? All the suburbers and smalltownders? In the city they must not love it! They must not love suburban exile! The agriculture and the textile! They must be jealous of the feeling! Doesn't anyone love the feeling? I'm in my car, I love the feeling! Posted by squalor @ 11:26 PM.

Freezing to death in the nuclear bunker. Will change your life. September 28, 2002. I'm awful. I just spent $8 on an LP of the somewhat-difficult-to-find Party Party. I also dropped $13 on Walter Steding's self-titled 1980 LP on Red Star Records (New York Dolls, Suicide), produced by Chris Stein, featuring guitar by Robert Fripp and Richard Lloyd, and not available on CD as far as I know. Trouser Press. Isn't too hot on Steding, but I liked what I saw of him in Downtown 81. Posted by squalor @ 2:41 PM.
