The Swashbuckling Homebody: June 2012
http://swashbucklinghomebody.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Monday, 25 June 2012. Sorry for being two weeks late, lots of things went wrong in the past two weeks, but lots of things also went great! So here is the good news:. My soap is curing, and looks really good, I can't wait until its usable! I set up my worm composting bin (red wigglers) and they have been eating lots of table scraps. I bought them here:. Http:/ www.redwormcomposting.com/buy-composting-worms/. I could have gotten night crawlers, which sound cooler, but apparently these are better composters.

The Swashbuckling Homebody: I whip my WEAVE back and forth
http://swashbucklinghomebody.blogspot.com/2012/10/i-whip-my-weave-back-and-forth.html
Thursday, 4 October 2012. I whip my WEAVE back and forth. So even though this is from the summer, I am posting it anyway to procrastinate doing homework. Learning to weave is difficult and time intensive, but once you get the loom set up it is actually pretty relaxing and fruitful (you get something really nice for the work you put into it). First we had to figure out what kind of vertical pattern we wanted to make. I was going for plaid? And of course here they are! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thursday, 31 May 2012. I baked bread again and it wasn't disgusting! Tuesday, 29 May 2012. WEEK ONE (has been won! This week, I started by planting seeds, starting bacterial cultures, and attempting to bake. Time is already going too fast. But they are pretty! And will hopefully be delicious, YUM! I have also been feeding my new pet, my sourdough yeast culture! The Swashbuckling Homebody: Self and Food Preservation Part II
http://swashbucklinghomebody.blogspot.com/2012/10/self-and-food-preservation-part-ii.html
Thursday, 4 October 2012. Self and Food Preservation Part II. Fer·men·ta·tion. The chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria, yeasts, or other microorganisms. When you ferment things, you are often growing and nurturing bacterial cultures. I grew a sourdough yeast culture that needed to be fed flour and water to grow. Sourdough yeast made sourdough bread, which could become a little labor/money intensive if I didn't bake bread continuously. Fermentation is also the process by which pickles are made.

Sunday, 10 June 2012. WEEK 2 and WEEK 3 and WEEK 4 (the collage version). These past few weeks have been a little jumbled. Because of the difficulties of planning ahead, weather, and a little too much stumbling on the internet, week 2 (Soap and cleaning agents), week 3(compost) and week 4 (outside garden stuff! Have all kind of been combined into a three week extravaganza! See swash·buck·le-ing). Here are the things I have done so far. 1 1/3 cups warm water. 1 teaspoon yeast (optional). 10 With floured h...
