"Ministry of Karma" by Ian Creasey - story background
http://www.iancreasey.com/info/ministry_of_karma.htm
Ministry of Karma" by Ian Creasey story background. Anthea wriggled on the willow chair, trying to find a position where the bark didn't dig into her skin. Her back itched, and her belly felt cold exposed to the air. The cleansing flame in the centre of the room gave off more incense than warmth. Relax, dear," said the dowser, a plump middle-aged woman wearing a kaftan embroidered with the Web of Life. How could Anthea relax when the omens had been so bad? Title: "Ministry of Karma". Length: 10,000 words.

The Adventures of Captain Contempt in Mixed Media Installations" by Ian Creasey story background. The gallery is a smooth, sleek ocean liner of a building, delivering its cargo of culture to posterity. Smog disfigures the white stone like an encrustation of barnacles. I reckon the pollution is overdue for cleansing, both outside and within. Title: "The Adventures of Captain Contempt in Mixed Media Installations". Length: 4,700 words. Reprinted: Fantasy Scroll Mag. Podcasted: Fantasy Scroll Mag.
"Pincushion Pete" by Ian Creasey - story background
http://www.iancreasey.com/info/pincushion_pete.htm
Pincushion Pete" by Ian Creasey story background. Length: 3,600 words. No-one can help being born with low intelligence, any more than they can help being born black, female, homosexual, or disabled. In the world of Pincushion Pete, it is illegal to discriminate against anyone on the grounds of their intelligence. In my story, I decided to go the opposite route of levelling up: less intelligent people can use gene-therapy patches to boost their intelligence, in the same way that disabled people can use w...

Frothing at the Mouth: August 2009
http://ricknovy.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Frothing at the Mouth. The musings and news of science fiction writer Rick Novy. Sunday, August 30, 2009. As regular "Frothing at the Mouth" readers know, I have been reading submissions for M-Brane SF magazine as guest editor for issue #12. It has been an interesting experience since until now, I have never slushed. While I haven't received any truly atrocious material like I hoped to read, I have received quite a bit of not-ready-for-prime-time stories. 3) Nothing of consequence really happened. So, ye...

DP FICTION #1: “Taste the Whip” by Andy Dudak | Diabolical Plots
http://www.diabolicalplots.com/dp-fiction-1-taste-the-whip-by-andy-dudak
From Inspiration to Ink…. Bibliography – David Steffen. DP FICTION #1: “Taste the Whip” by Andy Dudak. The ponderous starships mingle like whales in the ghost-light of distant Bellatrix, coupling and mutating in a great, ancient choreography, but one among them is out of step. Abstaining from communions, she begins to draw attention from the rest of the pod. She knows they are speculating in private networks as the dance falls apart. When the queries begin, she leaves them unanswered. A revelator emerged...
Writer's Playground: December 2013
http://lindatalisman.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
By Linda Talisman and friends. Tuesday, December 03, 2013. New way of doing things. Having posted "A Singular Being" to this blog marks me wanting and finding new ways to do things. I am more interested in finding readership than in getting the kudos involved in publishing, and the traditional publishing industry. It is sort of outmoded isn't it? Submitting manuscripts eternally to magazines, agents and publishing houses, accumulating a stack of rejections? In any case, I did NANOWRIMO. Its author has ha...
Writer's Playground: August 2013
http://lindatalisman.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
By Linda Talisman and friends. Friday, August 30, 2013. Here is my finished story, the one that got a handwritten rejection note from the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. You kind of have to have submitted stuff to know how amazing that is.). For once, Newmia's eight minds were in agreement: it was exciting to have been summoned by Netsen, renowned leader of TCSEE, the Telecognate Collective to Search for Extrinsic Entities. Welcome to TCSEE, Newmia.". Thank you, Savant.". As is now well known, a...

Writer's Playground: September 2011
http://lindatalisman.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
By Linda Talisman and friends. Thursday, September 22, 2011. Yes, even the New Yorker can sometimes behave like a black hole. Here is the New Yorker. S entry on the black hole. Still waiting for reply? This includes 2 "data points" I submitted, the 2010 one and the "still waiting" one. My 2 bring it up to a grand total of 6. (Analog has 99.) The 125 days "data point", along with the 93 days one, shows that they don't always respond within 90 days. So now it's back to the waiting game. Links to this post.
Frothing at the Mouth: RiNoWriMo - Day 2
http://ricknovy.blogspot.com/2010/02/rinowrimo-day-2.html
Frothing at the Mouth. The musings and news of science fiction writer Rick Novy. Tuesday, February 02, 2010. RiNoWriMo - Day 2. Today, I managed to gut out about 1600 words by writing in fits and starts all day long. That hits the daily goal and makes up some ground for the deficit I left yesterday. The Aether Age story, now titled Goga's First Law. Day 2 / 1612 words / 2360 total / -631 from target. Day 1 / 757 words / 757 total / -743 from target. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). RiNoWriMo - Day 5.

Great design is not merely “making things pretty.”. From traditional journalistic outlets to commercial media, I’ve applied a decade of professional experience to a range of formats, shepherding great ideas from inspiration to production to reception. And as the digital realm has increased its foothold, I’ve adapted the best-practices knowledge and creative spirit honed in my early work to new media platforms. Some of my recent projects have included logo design. And marketing collateral design.
