San Francisco | Hum of the city

Hum of the city. Tag Archives: San Francisco. March 10, 2016 · 9:42 am. We tried it: Yuba Spicy Curry. Anyway, late in 2015 I managed to coax my son onto Yuba’s Spicy Curry for a test ride. Vie Bikes. Aside: if you live in San Francisco and ride with kids, or want to, Vie is incredible they will bring test bikes and child-sized helmets and kid seats to your home to try! Yuba Spicy Curry: small, lightweight, value. What I like about the Spicy Curry. Mid-drive assist for the Spicy Curry. Across the board, ...

Hum of the city. Scaling preschool hill →. February 13, 2013 · 9:22 am. My Brompton gets schooled (2 kids on a folding bike, redux). Here we go again. Over Christmas I started riding the Brompton. Required to ride with a kid in front, which is awesome, is laughably expensive. We were only comfortable dropping that kind of dosh to celebrate my promotion last year. So this option is not likely to appeal to lots of people. Scaling preschool hill →. 3 responses to “. February 13, 2013 at 10:01 am. Most child...

Hum of the city. April 5, 2016 · 12:59 pm. Is it too good to be true? Two kids on our Kona MinUte, not an everyday thing. Our path to all-bikes-all-the-time did not always run smoothly. At various points, we got crappy advice (I have refrained for years from listing San Francisco Bike Shops That I Hate by name so I won’t start now), and at other points, we were unwilling to listen to good advice. Probably the best example of the latter was the Co-Rider/Bike Tutor debacle. For the record, advised upgradin...

Hum of the city. May 19, 2016 · 11:47 am. My mail carrier is an asshole. The wide sidewalks apparently serve as an irresistible temptation to a certain type of driver, however. My neighbors and I have learned to call the city to ticket drivers who decide that in the absence of a sufficiently convenient street spot, why not park on the nice wide sidewalk? It is apparently the same offenders over and over again, because word like us has gotten around, and our block now stays pretty clear. Our path to all-b...

Hum of the city. A new bike in our fleet. Yes, you can legally ride a bicycle on the sidewalk in San Francisco. Sometimes. →. September 2, 2014 · 4:47 pm. The summer ends, the summer begins. Heading out on the first day of school, all of us on our own wheel(s). Hanging out on the dock at Birch Lake. Berkeley and San Jose also had family camps, but theirs burned down in the Rim Fire. This is one side of the bike parking outside the dining hall. Halfway to the lake with Brompton Travoy and a ton of gear.

Monsters on a Bike: December 2011
http://monstersonabike.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 17, 2011. Here's the biking-related news around here:. 1) Yes, those were avocados that the little kids and I collected on a bike adventure. Last week and they were yummy! 2) Jeremy and I (and now the kids) have this crazy idea (daydream? Is this really how much a drum brake should cost? Maybe we really don't need a drum brake after all (unless we really do go to Idaho.). Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Sunday, December 11, 2011. Not biking to school. Well, its actually closer to three mil...
Monsters on a Bike: Our Bikes
http://monstersonabike.blogspot.com/p/our-bikes.html
We have a garage full of bikes:. Jeremy's commuter bike. This replaced a Specialized Globe that was stolen. This was stolen early 2012. Grrrr. I liked it. Jeremy had been considering buying a folder for some time. When his bicycle was stolen while at work, he walked over to a bike shop, bought this, and rode it home. We call this the "Trail-a-bike Bike". We just leave our Adams Trail-a-bike attached to it all the time. It came with us from Chicago where it braved snow and ice. Kettler Teddy bike seat:.

Friday, May 25, 2012. Jonah rides a bike! Jonah rode a bike for the first time today- and he just turned 3 last month! I'm so proud :) Kudos also to his older siblings who decided to teach him and to the whole idea of balance bikes. Jonah has been tootling around for some time on a balance bike on our little bit of backyard concrete. I'm totally convinced they are a better way to teach bike riding than using training wheels. Tuesday, May 22, 2012. All decked out in yellow Walk and Roll T-shirts. Sunday m...

Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Carrying a cupboard and a little brother. This morning Jeremy took the bakfiets to pick up a cupboard that we found on Freecycle:. Gabriella (a major ball of energy and super-enthusiastic biker) offered to pull Joshua on the Trail-A-Bike. It worked great, though I was a little nervous at first. Gabi is only 10 (well, almost 11). On the way home, Joshua the bookworm happily sat and read in the bakfiets, while Joey happily rode the Trail-A-Bike. Perfect! Thursday, July 12, 2012.

Thursday, March 29, 2012. Chatting with Daniella this evening, I had the following little exchange:. Daniella: When I grow up, I am going to buy a bakfiets. Daniella: So I can put my [future] pet dog and all my camping gear in it and zoom off. That sounds so wonderfully fun. I hope she gets to do it someday :). Friday, March 9, 2012. What's left of the bike. Bike, but looked just about like this. Saturday, March 3, 2012. A Road Trip and a Bike Trip. Had a blast sledding and playing:. We also did a lot of...
Monsters on a Bike: September 2012

Sunday, September 16, 2012. The bikey things we're up to. Sometimes I also hate taking pictures (a bunch of kids junk camera bike and only two hands can be quite a hassle) and I always hate uploading them (why, oh, why can't AT&T build infrastructure so that our DSL can be fast enough to actually watch a YouTube clip? Just kidding. We're even getting less weird; there are now three other cargo bikes regularly at school- another bakfiets, an Xtracycle, and a new Yuba Mundo! Home is just across this ocean.
Monsters on a Bike: November 2012

Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Across the Dumbarton Bridge. Getting ready to head out. All packed up and with the girls raring to go, we aimed to get out by 7 AM or so, but ended up leaving a bit after 8. We took a slight detour to the library to return some materials, then hopped onto the Stevens Creek Trail and booked it out toward the Bay Trail and then to IKEA in East Palo Alto to enjoy their Monday free breakfast. (We love free food! On the Bay Trail. Farm in East Palo Alto? We'll see, we'll see. Then ...

Monday, November 5, 2012. The trail started off flat and shady:. We found a yummy strawberry fruit tree:. Then we found a very big hill:. There were great views at the top:. After heading back down, the kids got silly on the trail:. We then finished up the hike, stopped at two playgrounds (and two restrooms), and then ended with dinner at a new cafe near our home. They cafe had games (but the food wasn't quite enough for our big appetites):. All ready to go. The bakfiets lags behind. We would love to mee...
Growing Up Bike: How my Bike has Changed

Family Biking in Victoria, B.C. Friday, 5 December 2014. How my Bike has Changed. I've been using my bicycle for about a year and a half, so I thought I should brag about just how great it is. There have been a few permutations of our set up, since the kids' and my needs have changed. Photo by Bruce Stotesbury, Times Colonist. Is needed for the other stem which you want the seat to go on and the child can be set up on a different bike in about two minutes. 7 January 2015 at 13:46. Thank you for showing a...

Hum of the city | 2 kids, 2 careers, 1 beautiful city (and no car)
Hum of the city. December 4, 2017 · 4:24 pm. Christmas tree by bicycle, our 7th consecutive year. Has it been a year? It kind of has. One of the first cargo-type things we did with our first cargo bike. Other than carry our own kids (typically one at a time), was to pick up a Christmas tree on it. It was only later that we added odds and ends like game tables and other people’s children. In value-pack combinations.). It’s getting harder to take pictures of the kids. Loading up the tree. This is the first...

Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Now Where Were We? Damn these blogs are hard to keep up with! Lets see. Whitnall. Great day. Windy as always. Lotsa attacks. Nothing sticks. Voigt rides at the front, stays out of trouble and wins the race. Total of 5 LAPT riders go to the asphalt today. A record. No serious injuries though. Reedsburg.I manage a 4th place after chasing Halvy all day. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. Where did everybody go? Small but strong field for the M123, including Halverson. Couple of early flyers.
