My name is Holly and I have Friedreich's Ataxia (FA). I just turned 18, and am very similar to my other high school classmates. I'm very social. And I get good grades. But one of the differences between me and them is that that I use a wheelchair at school. I'm always surrounded by great friends. And an amazing family. Though, so I don't always feel the difference. At first, I did not want to draw attention to my disease, and was not comfortable explaining my hardships. By most, but are what I wish.

When we first organized Holly's Hope, our goal was to raise as much money as we could, as quickly as possible, to donate to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). We have been extremely thankful for the results of those efforts, and were able to raise approximately $20,000 to send to FARA in the first two years. Holly wishes to express her sincere gratitude to EVERYONE who has helped her out! 24 HOUR SKI MARATHON at PAT's Peak. 4:00 Sat Feb 2 to 4:00 Sun Feb 3. Ski and Snowboard for 24 hours!

Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) is a rare, debiltating, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. Signs and Symptoms may include:. Loss of coordination (ataxia) in the arms and legs. Vision impairment, hearing loss, slurred speech. Fatigue due to energy deprivation and muscle loss. Aggressive scoliosis (curvature of the spine). Serious heart conditions (enlarged heart- hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). All symptoms are not present in each individual with FA. For more information, please visit.
