Question about scent oils: soapmakers

Question about scent oils. This is probably a really stupid question, but. can I use essential oils or fragrance oils meant for those oil warmers to scent my soap? I can't find any good soap scents at my local craft stores and it will cost so much for shipping to order it online when I only need a little. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. Non sequitur ] (. I am completely and utterly new to soapmaking (as in, I've read books/watched videos/have the supplies, but I've never actually made any soap! I just have a couple questions:. When using SoapCalc, I totally understand how it calculates the percentages of oil and tells you how much lye to use, but after it has been calculated, I'm still not sure how much water to add. Do I just calculate 38% of the weight of oils myself - and that's how much water I should be using? Post a new comment.

I dont know what I did. I wanted to start making our own soap and did my first batch last night. After letting it sit for 24 hours I went to go cut it and it looked good until I cut into it. On the bottom was a brownish orange gel that had an ammonia smell. What is this? What could I hve done wrong? Is it a lost cause or should I wash/cut away the contaminated parts? Once rinsed the soap itself has no smell at all. Its a milk based soap if that matters. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post.
