The Zoomers Mongolian Rally: July 2009
http://zoomersmongolian.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 30, 2009. We were prepared for the worst after the last border control expedition, as we rolled up to the small border crossing. Got passed the first armed dude, few laughs and his broken, very excitable hello and goodbye - they say it like there is an air bubble in their throat - its brilliant! Cash and given a little Russian lesson en route. Fluent, I returned and after the guards signed the Zebra and an illegal click of the camera with them in we were off into Russia! Nearing midnight w...

The Zoomers Mongolian Rally: 22nd August: THE END OF THE ROAD
http://zoomersmongolian.blogspot.com/2009/08/22nd-august-end-of-road.html
Monday, August 24, 2009. 22nd August: THE END OF THE ROAD. Made early tracks for the last day on the road with Mr Zeeb. We gave the hovercraft to the shepherd herding his goats. He was ecstatic at the idea of his new mattress and as we left we watched him putting the mattress, still inflated on this motorbike. What a sight, in his full Mongolian traditional dress biking off to his yert with his new bed! The traffic thickened and the horns started to blow from jeeps and cars with dented side panels and wh...

The Zoomers Mongolian Rally: 28th August - 1st September: CHING CHONG CHA!
http://zoomersmongolian.blogspot.com/2009/09/28th-august-1st-september-ching-chong.html
Tuesday, September 1, 2009. 28th August - 1st September: CHING CHONG CHA! The taxi to the train station, booked for 7pm had not arrived by 7.20pm and the traffic in UB is continuously bumper to bumper, horns firing, therefore clearly no surprise that most of the vehicles have knocks and scrapes on them. We had a race against the ticking clock. We were but not the train! My arm was grabbed and pointed under the platform to the other side so we legged it under and up to the other train. 57 strokes in it!

The Zoomers Mongolian Rally: 2nd Sept: THE FORBIDDEN CITY
http://zoomersmongolian.blogspot.com/2009/09/2nd-sept-forbidden-city.html
Sunday, September 6, 2009. 2nd Sept: THE FORBIDDEN CITY. The lake glistened with a large pagoda vessel peacefully gliding through the water to the large island on the south side. Other boats chugged around- small motor boats you could rent and padalos with plastic ducks leading the way at the front of them! We sat and watched under the weeping willows that dipped their toes in the water, blowing in the humid breeze. It was sparkling magic. Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device. We thrive on adventure a...

Said good bye to The Lost Boys who had to get back to the UK. On 26th it was Jonos birthday!

Saturday, September 12, 2009. 6th/7th/8th Sept: The Garden City and onto the lake city! Its very pretty with little stone bridges crossing the waterways and little wooden boats peacefully drifting down them. Found some great silk and in the early evening headed down to the newer area of Suzhou full of restaurants and shops and down a little alley way to the Master of Nets Gardens to meet Ling who we had met in Beijing. The house and its surrounds were majestic in the lantern lit evening with oriental til...

Sunday, August 23, 2009. 19th/20th/21st August: THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED. Well needed lie in then to the bank for me to change more money. I had managed to bargain my passport with the cleaner which she popped in her cleaning jacket so that I could pay the 30,000 Togrog the next morning. Ooigii spoke great english, a teacher and told us that her husband wants to buy Mr Zeeb! Well, no surprise really as he is a hot young bruit! Kids would see Zeeb and Wendy coming from a distance and gather their goods to ...
