headless blog: Meat me in Argentina
http://headlessblog.blogspot.com/2013/09/meat-me-in-argentina.html
Monday, September 02, 2013. Meat me in Argentina. Argentina. Land of beef and football. I came to this country knowing little beyond its barbecues and its people's fanatic love for the world game; I will admit that that was reason enough for me to go. It is, I have since found out, a country of great diversity both in its culture and its landscapes*. I leave here knowing that one day I will come back. Sorry, we're closed.". Seven thirty ticked over and Don Julio was finally open. I took my seat and o...

Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Europe 2010/11 final leg: Switzerland and? If you know me in person or online, chances are you've already been subjected to my post-trip rants regarding a certain incident that happened after my final stop in Switzerland. If not, you can scroll down for spoilers as to what? In the title stands for, or just keep reading to find out. In transit: Chamonix to Zurich. Pro tip: Zurich is dead on Sundays. A cold, overcast day in Zurich. One important thing to know when visiting Swit...

headless blog: June 2010
http://headlessblog.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 08, 2010. It's been almost half a year since I last blogged. I didn't even finish chronicling my North American adventures. Shameful. Here's a refresher course for that, which I hope to keep somewhat brief:. I felt dreadful all throughout my stay in Boston and missed out on seeing much of the city. It was Bologna all over again. Fortunately, I started to get better as soon as I got into Toronto (you rock, Canada! Hmm, that wasn't a short refresher after all. Oh well. Labels: catch up post.

headless blog: December 2009
http://headlessblog.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 15, 2009. We apologise for any inconvenience. I'm in Boston. I met up earlier today with my mum and dad. We're staying with a good friend of my mum and her husband. After a hectic first three days of my trip, I've accumulated ten hours of transit delays and some kind of sore-throat-related infection. It's been a rough start to the holidays, but I'm hoping to fight through it. If it's anything the Americans can do well, it's making monuments." -James. We first got some food and then star...

Thursday, September 22, 2011. Europe 2010/11 second leg: France (pt 1). So much for making up for a lack of blogging. Looks like I completely neglected (read: forgot about/too lazy to update) my story even though I've been back in the country (i.e. Australia) for over half a year now. But hey, it's tradition to be so behind on blog posts, right? In an effort to hurry things up, I'll write up a little bit about my time in each city instead of the usual play-by-play commentary. One of the places my hosts t...

Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Crazy massive Japanese post of super awesome! Finally, here's the last bit of my Japan journal. We left off with me and Dave being stuck in a bus station for an hour. Snow still steadily falling on the way down to Yamagata, we eventually made it with time to spare for the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. There was a guy at Yamagata station selling bento boxes by chanting, in a very low voice, "BENTOOOOOOOOOOO! It was almost hypnotic. Dave decided to buy a box for the train trip. We had ...

Thursday, January 13, 2011. Europe 2010/11 first leg: England and Belgium. I just had a look at the date of my last post. Here is an attempt to make up for the lack of blogging. In case you hadn't already guessed from the title, my latest travel adventure is, once again, Europe. No sleep til London. A good time, not a long time. Pro tip: If you want to visit the Tower of London, get there as early as possible. Adrian vs European city planning. After a quick one day stopover in England, my next destinatio...

headless blog: Breathtaking
http://headlessblog.blogspot.com/2013/09/breathtaking.html
Saturday, September 28, 2013. Go with the flow" was to be the mantra for the middle part of my South American odyssey, and Bolivia did not disappoint in that regard. As you may recall, my plan to cross to San Pedro de Atacama was foiled by snow. That was just the beginning. Before I begin: the photo albums for Chile. Are now complete. Some pictures may have short or slightly-longer-but-not-too-long captions. Do as the locals do. I followed the flow of people and tried to find where to get my passport sta...

headless blog: August 2013
http://headlessblog.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 26, 2013. I've probably said this before, but it's no less true today: the most interesting stories are those unplanned crises. Santiago, Chile. It's 8am on a Friday morning and I've slept through my alarm. I've missed my shuttle transfer to the airport and I'm wondering how late I'll be. It's going to be a close one. But let's start at the beginning. I waited for a sale and bought an open-jaw ticket to Santiago, returning from San Francisco two-and-a-half months later. I noticed a sal...
