Luray Virginia is a town of fewer than five thousand residents. It is situated in the Shenandoah Valley between the Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest. Despite its small size, the town has over 300 acres of parks including the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway. The Luray-Hawksbill Greenway was constructed in 4 phases with a completed trail length of 4 miles. The Hawksbill Greenway Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded on June 6, 2009 in Luray, Virginia. It received its 501 status in April 2010. The goal of the foundation is to support and enhance the town’s investment in its award winning Hawksbill Greenway as well as its 300 acre park system. The foundation also supports environmental education throughout the community and its schools.

Winter this year was relatively mild overall, although the temperature did get down to 4 degrees on one occasion. I had to dig out our driveway on three occasions, but no snowstorms of particular note. As the middle picture above suggests, our wood stove helped keep things warm and cozy inside. Mid-March brought a visit from Lonni and Lyara and a hike up Crabtree Falls.
