Hawk 289 rear axle and suspension. The original backing plate for the drum brakes was rusty and muddy. The wheel hubs will not be needed, as the Hawk 289 kit includes new ones. Hawk 289 kit car build. My Hawk289 was supplied by Hawk Cars in Kent. It is a very accurate copy of a Cobra 289 and is finished in British Racing Green gel coat. The following pages describe the suspension setup. When I had a rolling chassis the car was passed to Talon Sports Cars in Loughborough to prepare for the IVA test. Hawk 289 wiring loom. The wiring loom supplied by Hawk was used. There were a few issues of clarity but these were eventually sorted out by a process of elimination. Almost everything worked first time. I took a guess at the ratio to use for the speedo and on tests driving at what I estimated was 30 the speedo said 50, so I need to apply a 3:5 multiplication factor and try again.
