...striving...: What might have been
http://ktbstriving.blogspot.com/2013/04/what-might-have-been.html
To see the beauty that is everywhere. What might have been. Yesterday I found an old note from a boy I once loved. Still love, really. Differently. It wasn't a love letter. It wasn't spectacular or awesome or particularly poetic. It was a simple note from a friend. About a friendship; a shared experience. And it made me bawl. Just for 30 seconds. But it was so sudden I was taken completely by surprise at my own emotions. Why did this strike me so powerfully? Why was I so overwhelmed in that moment? Learn...

...striving...: story collector
http://ktbstriving.blogspot.com/2010/09/story-collector.html
To see the beauty that is everywhere. For the longest time i wanted to tell stories. I wanted to create characters and plots and themes and symbols and distill them all into words and phrases that could contain the meanings and the sensations and the emotions i conceived in those tales. But then sometimes i wonder. Isn't what i do best. Maybe rather than the transmitter i am the receptacle. Not the teller, but the told. And maybe that's why i will sit for hours and listen to (or read or watch). With grac...

To see the beauty that is everywhere. On Not Going With the Flow. Thoughts cross my mind. Where do I want to be? Where do I want to go? What do I need to do? But they reach me as if in a fog. Blurred by the rushing waves that are each day and it's busy obligations. They reach me as if through the film of sleep that clouds the mind. Sleepy, hazy. Nothing urgent. Nothing impending. Only flowing in the ease of the path of least resistance. I am afraid. Making choices means making mistakes. It means ...Show ...

...striving...: Film going: To the Wonder
http://ktbstriving.blogspot.com/2013/05/film-going-to-wonder.html
To see the beauty that is everywhere. Film going: To the Wonder. Last night I saw the film To the Wonder. I am still in awe. The film is raw. Emotional. Narrated, vaguely, in turn by the various characters as they move through the phases in their lives and loves. As they struggle and question and seek and yearn for that which they cannot find or cannot hold on to. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nicholas D. Kristof. The rest is still unwritten. To see the beauty that is everywhere. So now, sitting at my desk watching the dark sky cloud with dust and seeing leaves shaking and scattering from the trees, i felt akin to G.K. To see the beauty that is everywhere. Today my students celebrated Pi Day by writing "Pi-ku" ( found here. They tried writing both about Pi in a normal 17 syllable haiku and writing one with lines of 3, 1 and 4. Clever, right? Well the idea wasn't mine. But the kids still enjoyed it! This is the example I came up with:. But the only part I know. Is three point one four. And the Pi-ku version:. What would your Pi Day haiku be? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nicholas D. To see the beauty that is everywhere. Where'd the time go? There is nothing that will make you feel simultaneously old and immature more effectively than being in constant contact with people just a couple stages behind you in the journey of life. If you're me, that is. You mean, it wasn't just yesterday that I was in high school? Could it actually be so long ago that I was that age? And if so, why do I feel like these baby-faced teens are closer to being my peers than the other teachers I work with?

...striving...: This one goes out to the ones I love
http://ktbstriving.blogspot.com/2010/03/today-it-rained.html
To see the beauty that is everywhere. This one goes out to the ones I love. And I wanted to complain until my friend said. It's just enough to clear the air a little". And I realized,. Sometimes we need a little rain. And a few tears . . . Just to clear the air. And afterward, with purified vision, we will start to see everything that was covered with the dust of daily life. So today I am grateful for rain and for everything that has been made clean. Sun and rain in the same day! March 3, 2010 at 1:47 PM.
