greentapestry : End Of Month View ~ June 2015

https://greentapestry.blogspot.com/2015/06/end-of-month-view-june-2015.html

A gardening and allotment notebook. Tuesday, 30 June 2015. End Of Month View June 2015. Allium christophii/Star of Persia glowing in this evening's sun. My word or should I perhaps say phrase for the month is "back to front". I have a dahlia flowering before the first of the sweet peas has opened as much as a petal, which is most perturbing. I associate dahlias with late summer whilst sweet peas are high summer. Something has gone wrong somewhere! 1 July 2015 at 07:31:00 BST. Sounds like the garden is in...

A gardening and allotment notebook. Sunday, 28 June 2015. The Scented Garden 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,. Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,. Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,. With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:. There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,. Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight". Rom 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by William Shakespeare. 28 June 2015 at 16:32:00 BST. 5 July 2015 at 08:25:00 BST. Single roses are n...

A gardening and allotment notebook. Tuesday, 19 May 2015. I'm most excited about the appearance of hablitzia tamnoides. Or the Caucasian spinach vine. I've been searching for seeds since I heard a talk. 19 May 2015 at 18:42:00 BST. Not seeds I have sown this year but last years Candelabra Primula seedlings are just ready to flower this year. These are the first seeds Ive EVER managed to get through to adulthood! Before I go.what is the name of the Iris in your picture, its a beauty! Oh well done on the p...

The Elm Century House Garden … By The Virgin Gardener. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Neglect happy birthday to me. September 13, 2016. My poor garden hasn’t had much love this year as I take care of my new baby, renovate and help run a furniture business. If only my child would nap …. So what did I do for my birthday but buy new plants. :S. Ya, that’s right, instead of taking time to care for what I have, I bought new goodies. Box o’ birthday plants. And I like concrete stamping too.

Musings from an allotment. This recipe is a Sarah Raven recipe known as ‘Anna’s thick-cut dark, dark marmalade’. It uses dark muscovado sugar which gives it a dark colour and a treacly taste. If you want a paler colour (where you can actually see the shred! Try using light brown sugar or ordinary granulated sugar. Seville Orange Marmalade - the finished result. Makes 8 x 450g jars. A Little Bit About Me. A Life in Wellies. Asymp; 20 Comments. I can’t believe how quickly this year has whizzed past. As this is only my third post of the year, *looks sheepishly at screen*, it probably goes without saying I’ve found it hard to keep up with work, gardening and other commitments. Something had to give and unfortunately that turned out to be this blog. Sarah will be on hand to offer advice on how to arrange – have a look at her Instagram feed. The late summer harvest - growing apples and pears - dig the outside

http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/08/29/growing-apples-and-pears

August 29, 2013. The late summer harvest – growing apples and pears. I love growing apples and pears and I’m so lucky to have two mature trees in my allotment garden. They were both planted around 4 years before I took over the plot and I’ve been there around 10 years myself now. Baby pears last month, I love the way they grow up in the air! Pears seem to be a lot easier to store, they last longer and they get eaten by Adam very quickly so it’s just apples that I need to work on. Fruit blossom in spring.

My Mediterranean inspired container garden - dig the outside

http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/09/03/my-mediterranean-inspired-container-garden

September 3, 2013. My Mediterranean inspired container garden. I love container gardening because I can create gardens in the smallest of spaces and I can easily change my displays as often as I want. I first posted about my little container garden. At the front of my house in May, when I had a really colourful display of spring bulbs in containers around my front door. Inspired by the planting schemes and container gardens I saw during my holiday in Provence,. These classic red pelargoniums. Since my po...

Welcome to the jungle - the garden has taken off! - dig the outside

http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/07/30/welcome-to-the-jungle-garden

July 30, 2013. Welcome to the jungle – the garden has taken off! Since my last post from the garden. In late June/early July things have developed drastically! While I’ve been away on holiday the plants have grown, or should I say over-grown in the remarkable British weather! Adam was a little worried that the sprinkler system he set up would not work…but it did. We returned to an abundance of foliage, crops and what I can only describe as a jungle in the pumpkin patch! The first of many. I’m full ...
