Carrots and Ginger: Digital Divide
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2012/09/digital-divide.html
Monday, September 03, 2012. My phone broke in half. Seriously. I went to the Verizon store to "upgrade." An iPhone 4 is free with data plan. A basic phone is $130 with 2 year contact. The salesman explained they are phasing out basic phones- the manufacturers are going to stop producing them. I ask "what about folks who can't afford a data plan? He said "we are working on some all inclusive plans.". I ask "will it cost more than what I have now? I'm not even going to get into the carbon footprint of repl...

Carrots and Ginger: An Open Letter to Gap Inc.
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2013/08/an-open-letter-to-gap-inc.html
Monday, August 26, 2013. An Open Letter to Gap Inc. Dear Gap Inc.,. I have been a loyal customer of the Gap for many years- some of my favorite clothes are from the Gap brands. Recently, however, I have been ashamed to admit to my friends that I am a Gap customer. I was deeply shaken by the factory fires in Bangladesh this past year. Those tragedies made me question the integrity of the garment industry, and of Gap brands in particular. Posted by Ginger Root. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Carrots and Ginger: September 2011
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 14, 2011. It's great to have a creative mind. It results in folks saying to me consistently "I've never thought of that before" or "You always make me think.". Posted by Ginger Root. Monday, September 12, 2011. This Monday morning, today, I rose with sore muscles from a weekend of moving furniture and debris out of our flooded church basement. I am reading Holmgren. Will we have to end early to meet the National Guard curfew? Posted by Ginger Root. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Carrots and Ginger: Festival Fashion- Part 3
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2013/07/festival-fashion-part-3.html
Monday, July 29, 2013. Festival Fashion- Part 3. But when it comes down to it, Festival Fashion is about finding a way to express the moment. Here we were under the blazing mid-day sun on the infield listening to Bronwen Exter. When this gorgeous breeze came up. Suddenly the diaphanous skirt captured the zeitgeist of the moment beautifully. Check out Bronwyn Exter in her flowy asymmetrical dress and cowboy boots. And her kick-ass fans. I have got to find out who made these harem cargo-pants. By Sunday wh...

Carrots and Ginger: Festival Fashion - Part 1
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2013/07/festival-fashion-part-1.html
Monday, July 29, 2013. Festival Fashion - Part 1. I had just found this unexpected patchwork maxi skirt in the most unexpected thrift shop. My sister looked at me quizzically until I explained "It's a festival skirt.". In the ensuing conversation she mentioned that many of the fashion blogs are obsessed with festival fashion. Right now. (There are fashion blogs about festival fashion. There are Fashion blogs? Second- the white lace dress/top. Came out of no where this year. I believe this one was made wi...

Carrots and Ginger: December 2011
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 29, 2011. After a few forward folds and cat-cow. Still something was not right. How would I know that I had practiced? What is the difference between really practicing and just stretching a little? I figured I should roll out my mat and change into yoga pants. I began as I always do with Sun Salutations (I like the "c" salutations. Note- this post is double posted on the Yoga Blog. Seemed only right.]. Posted by Ginger Root. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Carrots and Ginger: Digital Divide- Update
http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2013/07/digital-divide-update.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. An update from my previous post about the digital divide. First, I should disclose that I am now blogging from a laptop made in the CURRENT CALENDAR YEAR with the Windows 8 and everything. I can't tell you what a difference it makes to be able to run two programs simultaneously, to not have a half hour boot-up time, or to be able to open iTunes without crashing the whole works. That brought the electric light to rural America in the late 1930s? It feels a little like Marie Antoi...

http://carrotsnginger.blogspot.com/2012/02/update.html
Friday, February 03, 2012. As one who obsessively plans for the future it is stressful not to know what lays ahead, but as my sister wisely suggested "for now, couldn't you just enjoy having Sandy back? Posted by Ginger Root. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Subscribe To Carrots and Ginger.
