quaker oats live: July 2013
http://quakeroatslive.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. In my previous two posts on hope, I wrote about hope that comes from seeing the spiritual community built by followers of God's Spirit and then Jesus across time- the Kingdom of God, the Beloved Community, those in all times and places who have seen a vision of shalom. And attempted to live in it, including many Friends, and including prophets who were willing to look quite strange in order to follow the Spirit in radically peaceable ways. What keeps me filled with hope? Are we ...

quaker oats live: why I was late to worship yesterday, a.k.a. reasons I love North Valley
http://quakeroatslive.blogspot.com/2015/05/why-i-was-late-to-worship-yesterday-aka.html
Monday, May 11, 2015. Why I was late to worship yesterday, a.k.a. reasons I love North Valley. Yesterday, my family and I arrived at the meetinghouse right on time for worship, and my husband ran in to help lead music. I, however, did not arrive until at least five minutes in, and it hit me as I took my seat how grateful I am to be part of the community at North Valley Friends. Because of all the reasons that made me late. I returned to the adult meeting space and joined the song. View my complete profile.

quaker oats live: people's climate march
http://quakeroatslive.blogspot.com/2014/09/peoples-climate-march.html
Saturday, September 20, 2014. I'm getting so excited! The news and photos are rolling in from marches around the world, and tomorrow I'll be going to the one in Portland. The main march will be in New York City tomorrow. You can get all the info here. I always wanted to be part of the "Million Man March" for civil rights, but I wasn't alive yet so that kind of put a damper on that opportunity! My son and I watched 350.org's video about the march, Disruption, together, and he wanted to make a video to...

quaker oats live: mini book reviews: the river why
http://quakeroatslive.blogspot.com/2015/04/mini-book-reviews-river-why.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Mini book reviews: the river why. I decided to start a series I'm calling "mini book reviews," because I read tons of books right now, and I don't have time to write full-fledged reviews, but I want to share them with you all anyway. I'm going to write whatever I can write in 15 minutes. Ready, go! I'm starting with David James Duncan's The River Why. Which I just "read" as an audiobook. Audiobooks are the best, by the way! This was my third time reading The River Why. I'm a Quak...

quaker oats live: April 2014
http://quakeroatslive.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Yesterday marked the end of Lent, with the celebration of Jesus returning to life. The Eastern Orthodox church calendar now moves into 50 days of Eastertide, so maybe I'll become Orthodox for a bit, because after the 40 days of fasting during Lent, Orthodox Christians spend 50 days feasting! What's up with us Quakers who don't do the fasting or the feasting? I say this only partially with tongue in cheek.). Affordability of Going Green. Using food scraps for compost or chicken fo...

quaker oats live: February 2013
http://quakeroatslive.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 20, 2013. I wrote an article that appeared in Quaker Life Magazine. In their January/February 2013 issue entitled, " Are We the 99%? S the full text. In other news, right now I'm teaching a couple classes, planning a 6-year-old birthday party and trying to keep my 2-year-old from getting knives off the counters. (Yes, true story.) My eldest and I are going to Mexico over Spring Break! We'll be helping build some houses and do some other cool work, like building and stocking a costura.

You can read my full article below, and go to The Canadian Friend. Website to get a PDF of the whole issue. Friday, August 02, 2013. Published: "short-term missions: evangelizing americans".
