Cooking With The Single Guy: January 2011
http://singleguychef.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. Food Gallery: Watermelon Radishes. I've talked about watermelon radishes before, noting their beautiful interior that explodes like fireworks in a brilliant fuschia. I spotted them recently at the farmers' market and knew they would make a great photo subject. Watermelon radishes can taste sharp (nothing sweet like watermelons) and they always offer a splash of color to your dish. Posted by Single Guy Ben. Saturday, January 29, 2011. So pretty much my kitchen is done, with a few...

My co-workers and I went for lunch, and after a 30 minute wait, we were seated at one of the high communal tables. The Purple Pig had a whimsical feel with a cheat sheet explaining ingredients tacked on lamp shades above the table and quotes on wine from famous people written on the wall. The Purple Pig makes a...

The Unoriginal Chef: Spicy Szechuan Tofu
http://theunoriginalchef.blogspot.com/2011/08/spicy-szechuan-tofu.html
See recipe. Stash recipe. Eventually cook recipe. Review. Monday, August 29, 2011. For years, I was never a huge fan of Trader Joe's - when I lived in Los Angeles, it was the worst place to go on the weekend. Every single one had the world's smallest parking lot, and it was a madhouse. But these ladies are huge fans, and even wrote a book about it - Cooking with all Things Trader Joe's. My main changes to the recipe - first, I used ground turkey, as I didn't feel like beef and I could not find ground por...

The Unoriginal Chef: April 2011
http://theunoriginalchef.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
See recipe. Stash recipe. Eventually cook recipe. Review. Monday, April 25, 2011. Three rapidly ripening bananas. One rapidly frantic wannabe cook, who hasn't posted a recipe in a while because she hasn't had time to find something new to cook. Thankfully the bananas forced themselves into the spotlight and I had to make something quick. Enter banana bread! Generally, my go to recipe for banana bread is from America's Test Kitchen's Family Baking Book. Mmmmmmmm. See those brown edges? 1 egg, beaten.

Open daily 11 am to midnight (till 3 am Friday, Saturday). No reservations, cash only. The chilly weather always makes me go hunting for soup noodles. Happy Travels: Il Passetto de Borgo
http://neeracha.blogspot.com/2011/07/il-passetto-de-borgo.html
Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Il Passetto de Borgo. So those Dan Brown fans out there will be familiar with Il Passetto de Borgo. The 800 meter long secret passage that links the Vatican to the old Papal fort of Castel Sant' Angelo. I really wanted to go down this passage, so arranged our visit to correspond with the special opening times for this tour, as listed on the Rome tourist bureau web site. It's only open 2 months a year, during the peak summer tourist season. Still thinking about it. Last Day in Rome.
