The club celebrated its 60. Anniversary in 2007. It was founded as the Fishing Cooperative of Tolmin on the 10. Of March, 1947. At foundation it had 21 members, by 1969 this number had risen over 200 and currently there are 358 members and 52 junior members in the club. The club is registered and functions in accordance with the laws governing clubs and associations. The club also has a disciplinary court and supervisory council. The Tolmin fishing area includes two zones. From Bovec to the bridge at Kamno. From the bridge at Volarje to the confluence with the Tolminka. From the State border to the confluence with the Soča. From the village of Breginj to the confluence with the river Nadiža. Within territory of the Republic of Slovenia. Near Most na Soči. From the dam at Podselo to the Vogršček brook. Flyfishing is the only kind of fishing allowed and you are restricted to one fly only, tied to a single hook, no doubles or trebles are allowed. You may fish with dry flies, wet flies, nymphs or streamers. Any type of line and leader can be used. It is mandatory to use barbless hooks on all rivers. In the reservoir fishing from a boat is allowed. Opening season and minimum sizes. 1st Apr - 30th Sep. 26th Mar - 6th Nov. 26th Mar - 6th Nov. 16th May - 31st Oct. 26th Mar - 6th Nov. 11 - 30 fishing days.

The Soča runs for 65.2 kilometers from its source in Trenta to the its confluence with the stream Vogršček under the Doblar hydroelectric power plant’s dam. The first 10 km, to the Vrsnik stream, are breeding waters for the marble trout and typical trout waters, with numerous rapids and hidden pools. Only 11 % of Alpine rivers are in pristine condition. Published: 20 October 2014. According to a report by WWF, only one in ten rivers are healthy enough to maintain water supply and to cope with climate impacts. The WWF study defines no-go areas for hydro power plants and highlights river stretches for future restoration projects. The Soča and tributaries was identified as one of the high protection priority river systems in the Alps. The study is available here: Save the Alpine Rivers Study.
