Fladda is a small island in Argyll off the West coast of Scotland. A lighthouse was built there in 1860 along with two cottages to house two lighthouse keepers and their families. It has since been automated leaving the cottages empty except for when the current owner and their family come to stay for holidays.

The diary of our stay on Fladda 2003. Due to weather, time and availability of internet access we have been unable to update this as much as we would have liked but it does get done eventually! Had to walk across Luing to get to the car. Then into Oban for food shop and to buy some Snow Crete which we will be painting the walls with. Automated in 1956 the island was sold by the NLB to the public in 1976. The info here is a bit skimpy. Hopefully we'll add to it later. The information here has been compiled from various sources including the internet, books, deeds and speaking to the owner and local people. Apologies if any information is display here wrongly. 1858 - John Stevenson (Whiskey distiller in Oban). 1860 - NLB bought for purpose of sticking lighthouse on. 1976 - A local who runs an Exploration Centre. 1977 - Gems Father.
