Flesh and Bones: June 2010
http://fleshandbones1.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 25, 2010. I recently stumbled upon this extremely unique and interesting case in the Journal of Forensic Science. Immediately upon reading it, a number of thoughts played out in my mind. First was, this guy had some balls. Perhaps it can be credited solely to the drive of sexual compulsion, but to follow-through on such an elaborate and risky bondage scenario- alone- takes a pair (irrespective of the inherent foolishness). What did he plan to do if something went wrong? Monday, June 21, 2010.

Saturday, May 11, 2013. KDE: 1854 LONDON CHOLERA OUTBREAK. Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), also known as a "heatmap," is a wonderful way to graphically convey epidemiological data for outbreaks of infectious disease. At a glance, one can discern likely points of origin, routes of transmission, and density by area. KDE maps are attractive and fairly easy to render in QGIS, but it can. Cell size X,Y: 1,1. Flesh and Bones: September 2010
http://fleshandbones1.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 17, 2010. Also known as "grave wax," adipocere (from the Latin, adipo for fat and cera for wax) is a grayish-white postmortem (after death) matter caused by fat decomposition. Which results from hydrolysis and hydrogenation of the lipids (fatty cells) that compose subcutaneous (under the skin) fat tissues. The ability of adipocere to preserve a body has been well illustrated in exhumed corpses, even after a century. Also worth a read is Ruttan and Marshall's 1917 piece,. A Smithsonian a...
