From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Thursday, January 29, 2009. Turo Teszta, how I long for thee. I know I am getting a little update happy, which generally means one of two things: I have absolutely nothing to do or I am procrastinating on other, much more important things. Usually, you can bank on the second choice. Today, I walked in to one girl straightening her hair. When I told her to unplug it, she offered to do mine. Sad day, indeed. Zsuzsa says...

So we dipped under the bridge (remember the bridge from a few posts ago? The first set of rapids were tiny. I went down the rapids first and was waiting for the rest to catch up. The British guy came down and told me "I think you're boyfriend's decided to take a swim." It turns out, Jon had flipped. It took a while for them to catch up. Wh...Funny thing is, w...

From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Friday, February 27, 2009. Yesterday was quite eventful. . .something at least a little noteworthy happened in every class. Last night I ordered another pizza. Not so grumpy anymore man picked up. I told him what wanted and he immediately said "The little house by the gymnazium, right? AND I woke up this morning and heard songbirds. Yay spring! Now watch it dump more snow on us. Phooey. From Normal to Hungary: May 2011
http://fromnormaltohungary.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Tuesday, May 24, 2011. We exhausted the main sights of Split by early afternoon. So, after lunch, we took a stroll (long, steep, exhausting stroll) up a hill near Old Town. With more time to burn until an acceptable dinner time, we decided to visit the zoo that was there. Eight or so peacocks wandered around, jumping on things, screeching loudly, and generally creating a nuisance. The tiger showed up for a photo-op.

From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Friday, December 16, 2011. Škocjan Caves- May 23. We had to move along so quickly in order to make the last tour of the day for the Skocjan Caves about an hour away. Way to live a stereotype, right? This one is technically considered a cave- its roof has just fallen in! As a result, the ecosystem is incredibly unique. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Train strike. . .again. . .kind of, maybe. In December, I wrote an email about the unique nature of Hungarian strikes. As Ani terms it). Someone asked me whatever became of all of this, and I realized that I never really finished the story. As they train union is again threatening a one day strike, it seems as an appropriate time as any to revisit the issue. This time it would be a more reas...

From Normal to Hungary: Pula--May 22
http://fromnormaltohungary.blogspot.com/2011/12/pula-may-22.html
From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Friday, December 16, 2011. Sunday we set out again. This time, we headed south to the cities of Pula and Rovinj. Pula, the largest city in Istria, is very industrial and busy with port traffic. It is, however, also a huge tourist draw due its the well preserved Roman ruins. Pretty cool, huh? The Arch of Sergii:. The other site I really enjoyed was the Temple of Augustus, completed about 14 AD. Under Byzentine rule...

From Normal to Hungary. I live in places of puns. And hate coming up with witty titles. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. To this end, I usually shop in the grocery store- a (somewhat) decent selection, little interaction with people. The cashier and I have sort of an agreement- short hellos, then she tells me the total, we say goodbye. Kész. I told her yes and ordered half a kilo. "In English? Yes" She quizzed my Hungarian on the other produce, asking for the English she didn't know. Now, after eight months, I ...
