Biblical/Classical Literature - English 212

Biblical/Classical Literature - English 212. Sunday, December 11, 2005. Final Paper: Displaced Myth. When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe. As a sophomore in college I have come to the conclusion that by the time I graduate with a degree in English Literature I’ll be the best English Literature Trivial Pursuit player in the world (if there is such a thing, which I doubt) and that’s about it. Why do I study it then? What I learned in English 212.

Biblical/Classical Literature - English 212: Oresteia Response

http://english212sadie.blogspot.com/2005/10/oresteia-response.html

Biblical/Classical Literature - English 212. Sunday, October 30, 2005. I was reading Amy’s blog and I think that she posed a very important question about the Oresteia: if the Furies attack those who have committed blood crimes, why was Agamemnon not attacked for killing Iphigenia? Although there is no definitive answer to this question, I think that it comes down to the reason for murder. Instead of killing for. As Clydemnestra and Orestes do, Agamemnon. Biblical/Classical Literature - English 212: Calasso Lightbulb

http://english212sadie.blogspot.com/2005/10/calasso-lightbulb.html

Biblical/Classical Literature - English 212. Sunday, October 30, 2005. On pg 209 Calasso talks about the abduction of Kore by Hades and he uses the wisdom of Sophocles to make a point. Although I found this hard to follow at first, once I started thinking about it, it made sense. I cannot do this quote justice by trying to explain it. I really, to tell you the truth, don’t know what there is to explain. I just find this reasoning fascinating and something worth thinking about for a minute.

Wednesday, November 22, 2006. Haha back again (notice the same night. my car broke down and I can't leave for Thanksgiving. Fate decided against it. ). As if the archetypes we see and even act out today originate there? Personally. I think the bible is just an excellent portrayal and example of those truly timeless personalities and voices that we carry. Shauni Bowles-English 213

Wednesday, April 29, 2009. When we first starting talking about reading the times and not the eternities I have to admit I was kinda skeptical. I didn't totally understand the concept and I didn't really believe that it could be true. However, if I have learned anything in this class it is most definitely that the past does possess the present. Friday, April 24, 2009. Each person's rendition of love was different than the last. What I got most from the presentation of group 1 is that our ideas on lov...
