The Nankai Electric Railway makes 4 round trips a day by Limited Express, and runs Express trains at about 30-min intervals between Osaka Namba Station and Koyasan Station. It takes 1 hr 40 min by Limited Express, and around 2 hours by Express. It takes about 2 hours from Wakayama as well. Search the Nankai Electric Railway’s Timetable. Search the Bus's Timetable (Nankai Koya Line / Rinkan Bus). You'll need Skype Credit.

The season inches its way up the mountain slowly, so Koyasan's cherry blossoms appear about a month later than at the foot of the mountain. Prime cherry blossom viewing is from the end of April to early May. Just as the cherry blossoms begin to fade, rhododendron enliven the mountain spring. Mid-December travellers may be able to witness the season's first snowfall. The snow usually remains until February, covering the town in silence.

燈籠堂は真然大徳しんぜんだいとくが初めて建立し、その後、藤原道長によって西暦1023年治安3年に現在に近い大きさの燈籠堂が建立されました。一つは、祈親上人きしんしょうにんが献じた祈親灯きしんとう。この祈親灯の事を、祈親上人のすすめで貧しい生活の中、自らの髪を切り売ってまで工面したお金で、献灯したと伝わるお照おてるの話に因んで貧女の一灯ひんにょのいっとうと呼ぶ説もあります。高さ約485ｍ、幅約23.5ｍ四面で、現在の建物は、西暦１９３７年昭和１２年に再建されたものです。現在の建物は、西暦１８４３年天保１４年炎上後、西暦１８４７年弘化４年に再建されたものです。この建物は、正面桁行21.4ｍ、梁間7.9ｍ、高さ25.1ｍで、重要文化財に指定されています。西暦1900年明治33年 4月には、国宝に指定され、また、西暦2004年平成16年には、世界文化遺産にも指定されています。
