Simple Church Letters: June 2013

Friday, June 28, 2013. HOW MY EYES WERE OPENED! I thought this might interest others who may be wavering between continuing with the “traditional” church and getting involved with a simple church.and this is more a personal reflection, rather than a criticism of the church. 8221; I realised then that while it was nice and meaningful for those inside the building, in all probability it wasn’t very relevant to those "outside" who had no knowledge of Jesus. Thanks Michael, it's good to hear from someone who...

Simple Church Letters: Instalment 2 of Kayla's Story
http://www.simplechurchletters.com/2013/10/instalment-2-of-kaylas-story.html
Friday, October 18, 2013. Instalment 2 of Kayla's Story. My last Simple Church Letter was the story of our 15 year old granddaughter and her "Jesus at School" (JAS) activity. And I've never had so many heart-felt responses to a SC Letter. So, I'm sending instalment No 2. I didn't ask Kayla for this next email, but as you will see, her enthusiasm for Jesus just overflows. So crazy things have been happening in my school since my last email. Box in every week. Prayed for her English to get better! Fasting ...

Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Others' Views on 'The Sinner's Prayer'. And what they have to say. But I have printed the shorter letters of people’s experiences to allow you to see what I believe are more typical of our journey to God. Good morning Jack,. Thank you for sharing this. I was wondering too, but unlike Angela (thank-you Angela) I didn't take the time to write. Your explanation reminds me too of how different was/is Jesus' response and actions regarding people's healing. Now - I don't like to d...

Simple Church Letters: November 2012
http://www.simplechurchletters.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 29, 2012. How we got started. Welcome to the first edition of Simple Church Letters. I (Jack) have been in full time Christian pastoral ministry for a good many years – fifty something if my so-called retirement years are counted. Nearly three of these years were spent serving in Indonesia, plus regular visits to minister in Asian churches over recent years. And to use the over-used words, ‘paradigm shift’, I’ve sure had one of those! The reasons for these letters are:. Prior to 2004 w...

Simple Church Letters: I WAS WRONG
http://www.simplechurchletters.com/2013/09/i-was-wrong.html
Friday, September 13, 2013. About those so-called para-church groups. For years I followed the ‘party line’ that para church organisations were a poor second cousin to the church. They were “para”, meaning, alongside the church, but also below and according to some even outside the church. Their members didn’t worship regularly on Sunday morning, and they didn’t have the mystical, so-called “covering” of the church. So what were they doing? Reaching out to lost and hurting people. Asks Paul, 1 Cor. 12.
