News, Views, Gibberings and Imaginings. There was an error in this gadget. Saturday, 27 November 2010. The following day after visiting The Lost Heron, I headed down west to the Hayle estuary for a bit of birding and more importantly a pasty from the famous Hampsons of Hayle. The usual suspects were present on the estuary with wigeon, curlew, dunlin and gulls a plenty and a couple of ruff were present seen from the pub car park. Camping was had courtesy of Henry's. Thats put the monkey amongst the ducks!

An ex birder birds Cornwall. Sunday, 16 January 2011. Woke to the wind still fresh so headed down to Hannafore. And Gannet was a challenge. Rough totals were as follows:. Closer in a couple of Slav Grebe. Were riding the surf, and today there were 5 Pale bellied Brents. And a Grey Plover. Completed the list of birds of note. I always find great amusement in the reaction to passers by when seawatching. From the car. At Hannafore. One parks up next to the pavement, along which dog walkers and grockles.

An ex birder birds Cornwall. Sunday, 28 March 2010. Out on the water were 5 Great Crested Grebes with one pair endulging in a bit of courtship head shaking. Coot numbers down to 23. I'm sure the fishermen (and the season has just started -yesterday there was an array of identikit fisherfolk casting their flies out on the choppy water and with a great deal of success from the selection of Rainbow Trout lying on the banks) were pleased to see 10 Cormorant joining in! So that's the weekend. Wheels on the bus.
