It's My Life

Saturday, February 16, 2013. This is my Grandma Rafferty. Here we are with my kids and my mom this past summer. The last time I saw her - the last time I will ever see her. Grandma Rafferty always baked the best treats - her peanut butter fudge was to die for. Grandma Rafferty always had sweet cereals in her pantry - breakfast was delicious at her house. Grandma Rafferty always was crafty, she could sew anything - including that ridiculous Wilma Flintstone costume I wore as a senior in high school. It is...

It's My Life: September 2011

http://www.duchesstellsherstory.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 25, 2011. My nose hurts, my head hurts, my stomach hurt for a long time, and I am tired because I can't sleep. BUT - through relentless hand washing and carefulness, my children have remained bug free. That is a positive. AND - my mammogram was normal this time as was my chick app't, so I am happy. No doctor's appointments until next August! Thus, while down a bit for the count, I consider myself in the black. Labels: Around the House. Thursday, September 15, 2011. We love you David!

It's My Life: At the Zoo

http://www.duchesstellsherstory.blogspot.com/2012/03/at-zoo.html

Tuesday, March 13, 2012. We went to the Hogle Park Zoo yesterday - and we saw this beautiful creature. He paced on top of this bridge, looking down at us. I was as close as it appears. I wondered about what he thought about as he paced. My dad suggested he was "looking at the animals" and I think that could be true. I wondered if he thought - here I am one of 400 left in the world, destroyed by the virus that is humanity who then take me into an enclosure and feel good about having saved me. To anyone th...

It's My Life: October 2011

http://www.duchesstellsherstory.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 23, 2011. Three years ago a whole crowd of my friends brought their kids to Black Island Farms and we got pumpkins and we played and had a lot of fun. I have not been able to get that crowd together since, so this year I went alone with my kids and one friend. Even my husband was not available, so my friend played the role of surrogate spouse. It's My Life: October 2010

http://www.duchesstellsherstory.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 18, 2010. I just drove home from Anaheim - and thus had ample time to think about what makes Utah drivers unique. They slow down in the passing lane - for some reason they hop out in front of you to pass the person and then slow down - why do you slow down when you are passing? Wouldn't that be the opportune moment for your fastest driving? And if so, do you think I would pick you when you slow down in rain, speed up in snow, slow down while passing and brake for no apparent reason when a...

It's My Life: December 2011

http://www.duchesstellsherstory.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 10, 2011. We had a dry hurricane here last week. We had wind registering 100 mph at the University. Two miles away at my house our 60 year old huge evergreen went down. I drove home increasingly nervous about our tree because I saw tree after tree down. When I turned left on my street I saw this:. Once, when I was crying, the Princess told me it would be okay, we could plant another tree. She's right, and we will. Labels: Around the House. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

One Brown Shoe: Goldie's Demise

http://onebrownshoe.blogspot.com/2009/12/goldies-demise.html

Thursday, December 31, 2009. So i decided to finish my Christmas shopping last Tuesday after having dinner with the Duchess and Athena. I was trying to go to Layton when this happened:. I hit a patch of ice, a snowbank, a railroad bridge, did a couple of 360s, and ended up in the outside lane of oncoming traffic. (This shot is face-on from the front of the car.). See the bump right below the black hose? Yep, I bent the frame. And what happened to my hood you may ask? So grateful you are ok! I've lived in...

One Brown Shoe: May 2011

http://onebrownshoe.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 27, 2011. A Week of Epiphanies. As the months progressed, the times and distances increased dramatically. I remember when we moved from walking on the indoor track to walking the lanes surrounding the football field. Lane 1 was still snow covered, and lane 2 wasn't much better. The weather finally started to warm up, and my resistance to early Saturday mornings thawed along with the ground. We decided that we came up 1 mile short of the goal after driving our course. Rather than conceding...

http://warandorder.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 28, 2010. I have worked since I was 16. With the exception of one month I haven't been without a job for over 20 years. I take pride in any job or task given to me. I respect others when their work depends on something that I must do, no matter how small or mundane. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. My "quickly" has a completely different definition than theirs. I still don't have what I need / want. The guy to no avail. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. The last little while I've decided th...

numismatically speaking...: Summers past and present

http://numismaticallyspeaking.blogspot.com/2008/07/i-love-summer.html

Adding it all up. Monday, July 14, 2008. Summers past and present. I love summer. Bring on the heat, it doesn't bother me. While growing up I spent summers in the water, usually at Rainbow Gardens. No way. Oil, and lots of it was used to get those deep, dark tans. Without a doubt those long days soaking up the rays contributed to the lovely patterns of spots that now adorn my arms, legs and chest. Ever tried mustard on your popcorn? Summer is half over and already I am sad to know it will end in six weeks.

numismatically speaking...: The creation of a dimple

http://numismaticallyspeaking.blogspot.com/2011/01/creation-of-dimple.html

Adding it all up. Friday, January 14, 2011. The creation of a dimple. Here goes. Lots happening in the last three weeks and it's time that I write about it. I have spent my life in the sun, especially summers at the pool. From the time I was young I relished playing in the water and being with friends and family. Sunburns were not unusual, especially on the ski slopes where the white snow reflected all those rays right back at my unprotected face. I wore my deep, dark tans proudly. Sunscreen? Dad lost hi...

numismatically speaking...: Burros

http://numismaticallyspeaking.blogspot.com/2011/03/burros.html

Adding it all up. Wednesday, March 2, 2011. This is not what I had intended to post today but the other one is not quite ready. Hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime I'll share this photo. Zeus and I just returned from a five day trip to our old stomping grounds in southern Arizona. The town of Ajo was once home to a thriving copper mine. It is now a winter home to northern snowbirds and an ever increasing population of Border Patrol and Homeland Security. It is good to be home. Re: your query on my blog, ...

numismatically speaking...: May 2011

http://numismaticallyspeaking.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Adding it all up. Wednesday, May 4, 2011. The dimple has been created, although it is currently in the healing stages. Sorry, no photos. We had been warned that the day of surgery would be long even though it was to be done under a local anesthetic. The procedure is basically cut, pathology, cut, pathology, close. It took two cuts to have clear margins which leaves me with nearly a 100% cure rate! 123 (collected on our DC trip). PS Wear your sunscreen! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Worth a thousand words.
