Wednesday, October 27, 2010. My "B" is worth more than our "A". In a previous post, I mentioned the importance of failure in learning as exemplified in mathematical thinking. There are a lot of different ways that we can experience "constructive failure." These kinds of "mistakes" are an essential part of exploration and true education. But what about non-constructive mistakes? What about poor choices for short-term benefits at long-term expense? These mistakes are much harder for a parent to watch.
