Darlin' Dils Collectibles. Monthly Archives: August 2013. August 13, 2013 · 10:06 pm. Passage to the Pacific 2012. Tonight will be a fun review and look back at the Breyer Premier event Passage to the Pacific. Held in San Diego in the fall of 2012 this was a very limited availability event open to members of the Breyer Collectors Club. It was held over 2 days and was pretty all-inclusive. Transportation to and from the activities was provided along with several meals. That morning was the much awaited Br...

Darlin' Dils Collectibles. Day 7 – The Kentucky Horse Park. Day 9 – Oppressive Heat →. July 18, 2015 · 8:38 pm. Day 8 – Goofing off. Yay – we got to sleep in to 9:15 this morning (of course our bodies thought it was still 6:15). A relaxing breakfast and leisurely start to the day was a nice change of pace. This was a new store to us and totally wonderful. A great antique mall and cafe/coffee shop/ice cream store! A bit anachronistic on the old building, but it added to the charm of this street. I had to ...

Darlin' Dils Collectibles. Monthly Archives: June 2015. June 27, 2015 · 4:41 pm. Thoughts on the Hunt. We will be starting our annual cross-country antiquing trip in just 2 weeks (! The early years – 2200 miles in a Mercury Grand Marquis! Adrian Pearsall Coffee Table – at a thrift store for $700! One of my favorite Kentucky flea markets. Higher prices but better stuff = very hard to pass by! An interesting booth in an antique store. The Car is Full. Lions and Brahmas and Ponies. On Breyerfest Trip 2016.

Darlin' Dils Collectibles. Monthly Archives: June 2013. June 29, 2013 · 10:01 pm. 21 days to Breyerfest? When did that happen? I usually take 2 weeks off work and drive to Kentucky with mom and shop at antique stores the whole way out and back. Due to issues this year I will be flying. That makes things both easier and more difficult. I get a bit more time to prepare and don’t have to plan the logistics of the drive, but it will be a challenge getting all the for sale inventory out there. Probably homema...

Darlin' Dils Collectibles. Monthly Archives: July 2013. July 31, 2013 · 10:08 pm. Those Crazy Don Manning Animals. I was inspired to explore some non-horsey collectibles lately. These guys have a mystery pedigree, but they do figure into the family tree back in the roots. Don Manning was a designer of plastic tchotchkes back in the 1940s. His animal figures were produced in plastic by a firm called NOSCO. Finally a few more animals. The dog is marked USA and I have also seen him as a pin. The sto...So th...

Braymere Custom Saddlery: Models in the Mountains recap

Monday, May 18, 2015. Models in the Mountains recap. I am still in California and haven't had a chance to edit my pictures from this weekend's Models in the Mountains. Usually no photos means no post, but fortunately, the event hostess, Corina Roberts, is an exceptional photographer. She has graciously provided me with enough photos to fill a dozen posts, including this one. Thanks, Corina! Mountain miles away from the nearest town. There is no cell phone service and no wifi. Rosettes for the champions!

Braymere Custom Saddlery: Mountains, models

Friday, May 15, 2015. When most people think of Los Angeles Country, they picture beaches,. I think of mountains. My parents live at the base of the San Gabriel mountains, less than a block from the entrance. Up to the falls. When I'm home, but today I decided to climb the Mount Wilson Toll Road instead. This trail is a long, steep fire road that eventually leads to the top of Mt. Wilson. The grade is a pretty consistent ten percent, so it didn't take long to see some awesome views of both the city.
Braymere Custom Saddlery: Halloween horse costumes circa 1985
http://braymere.blogspot.com/2011/10/halloween-horse-costumes-circa-1985.html
Thursday, October 27, 2011. Halloween horse costumes circa 1985. The two riders in this photo were twin sisters and some of Roxanne's most accomplished students. Amy's horse was named Coming Home, but around the barn he was known simply as Red. This pair had a lot of success in the 12-14 Junior Hunter classes on the Los Angeles Horse Show Association's B Circuit. Beth's horse Splash was just as fancy. You can't tell from this picture, but he was a minimally marked Appaloosa. Labels: my horse life. Thanks...
Braymere Custom Saddlery: Hallowed ground
http://braymere.blogspot.com/2011/11/hallowed-ground.html
Sunday, November 13, 2011. I grew up half a mile up the road from a large public boarding and lesson stable. Not surprisingly, Eaton Canyon Riding Club was ground zero for most of my equestrian "firsts." It's where I petted my first horse, took my first riding lesson, rode in my first show, jumped my first jump. Well, you get the idea! The stables are long gone. They were bulldozed sometime in the late 1980's, but I still feel compelled to visit the remains whenever I go home. I feel extremely fortunate ...
Braymere Custom Saddlery: Bareback jumping, not puissance
http://braymere.blogspot.com/2012/01/bareback-jumping-not-puissance.html
Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Bareback jumping, not puissance. I learned to ride at Eaton Canyon Riding Club. In Pasadena, California. ECRC in the early 1980's was a slightly rundown but still thriving public boarding stable. It had an active lesson program, and several times a year the trainers organized schooling shows for boarders and students. I loved. Finally, in June 1983, I got my chance. I was taking care of Cinnamon. And that is the closest I will probably ever get to Bareback Puissance! Happy, h...
Braymere Custom Saddlery: Post weekend show report

Thursday, May 14, 2015. Post weekend show report. Since I'm travelling today, this post is an "almost wordless" style show report from tackmaker, Maddy Hinman of Lazy H Custom Tack. She writes: These photos were taken at Models in the Sunshine (MIT), which is a super fun show hosted by Jackie Moore and Cindy Dilks in Ocala, Florida. I especially enjoyed meeting fellow tackmakers, Emma Van Riper, Becky McCorkendale and Rachel Fail. Hope you enjoy the performance photos! Entry and tack by Rachel Fail.
Braymere Custom Saddlery: Basil's Barn
http://braymere.blogspot.com/p/basils-barn.html
Basil was a pretty normal pet rat until one fateful day in February of 2011. She ventured into my studio, one thing led to another, and Basil became the hobby's first Saddle Rat. After that, there was no stopping her. Basil was a most versatile rat, dabbling in Western Pleasure,. Tie Down Roping,. Basil passed away in December 2011, but our new rat, Nutmeg, has proved a worthy successor. Her interests include Hunter Under Saddle,. Arabian costume (Egyptian Dancing Rat style),. darlindiaries | Musings on wiener dogs, boots, tutus and farming
Musings on wiener dogs, boots, tutus and farming. No No, Darlin’, you didn’t. February 3, 2018. Bad idea, Darlin’. So, no darlin’, you DIDN’T “make this.” If you were inspired by a recipe to come up with your own, go for it! If you changed half the ingredients so that your dish IN NO WAY resembled the recipe, a knock yourself slick out doing so. But do not go on to someone’s pin or blog or FacePage and tell them “I made this” if you didn’t. OH My LANTA, Darlin’! January 29, 2018. Yes, I loved my job when...

Darlin' Dils Collectibles | Horses, of Course
Darlin' Dils Collectibles. July 25, 2015 · 9:08 pm. Day 14 – And Day 15. After Denver we drove 474 miles and did 5 antique stores. Then our last day was 518 miles and NO shopping! I had no internet and no energy last night to fuss with my cell phone, and today was the just-get-home-already day, so I am combining them into one wonderful post! Our final shopping was the wonderful stores on the way north to Fort Collins along highway 287. We love these stores for a wide variety and great prices. The mall wa...
