The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. San Francisco has a different kind of crazy. Well, I have now completed two full weeks of my new line of work! I must say that I am rather enjoying myself in San Francisco. Work is enjoyable, even if it is quite busy at times. I'm finally getting a grasp on my responsibilities and learning how best to manage my time. I'm even better understanding how everything works in our systems and how eBooks are actually published! It looked something like this.

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. The Many Adventures of the Bay Area: Part III. Day 3: Muir Woods. Muir Woods is one of the many red woods preserves in California – and it’s just over the Golden Gate Bridge! You just need to have the stomach to drive the hairpin turns on the edges of mountains! There was a long line of traffic to get into the park. Well worth the long walk. These trees are massive! We had to walk over this scary bridge over the little river! Point Reyes is the bes...

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan: December 2015

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. Since tonight is the first night of Chanukah, I thought it appropriate to finally make a big announcement: I’m converting to Judaism. Secondly, ever since I left JTS and finished my internship in Israel, I have missed being submerged in Jewish living. Katy and I will celebrate Jewish holidays in small ways: putting up the menorah. That kind of thing. But it’s just not enough. I found a Masorti. I won’t require you to attend any classes.". A gatheri...

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. Denise's Visit, Part IV: Coit Tower. Remember that photo I shot of Coit Tower after Denise and I went to Alcatraz? Here’s a reminder:. Well, one day Denise met up with me after work and we decided to walk up the hundreds of steps to the top. It was really a nice walk up. All the houses had gorgeous gardens. There's a tiger in this garden! There was a statue at the top. I thought it was one of the explorers who discovered the bay. Or Juan de Ayala.

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. Am I Making a Difference? I keep waffling back and forth on my project between utter despair and failure to actually feeling like I'm making a difference. And immediately set to work. I said good morning to Selem (the surly old man working in the cemetery whose toes I accidentally stepped on in the process of this project. Whoops! I'm feeling quite good, though we'll see how it goes after I hear back from results from my advisor! He stopped me in m...

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. Our arrival in Paris was a success! Cassie and I survived the long plane rides and enjoyed the time in Iceland's airport. I'd love to visit that place. We managed to get through the airport, navigate the trains, and even walk to Ella's without incident. Ella was very welcoming and sweet, and her place is quaint and full of character! Just a few pics I snapped of her unique style:. Anyway, more to come! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). You must above all...

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. As many of you know, I regularly grow out my hair to donate. It takes me usually three to four years to do this so I can donate a really good amount. This time I went a little early - It's only been about two and a half years. I didn't have as much growth as I would have liked, but Kelly told me athat I could donate for oil spill cleanups! They have no minimum growth requirements, so I thought this was the best solution! Oil spill clean up. There's...

The Wayward Travels of the Second Granddaughter Brennan. After a long weekend and a brief party celebration of Purim on a rooftop in Haifa, our first week of practicum began in Akko! We got our hands dirty working on pointing the Ottoman aqueduct and Khan el-Shwarda, had some serious reading regarding the philosophy of conservation, and began our first practical project on the International Conservation Center! Also, we finally got internet in our apartments today! Let's check out some photos, shall we?
