Technology, film, travel, etc. TechNet is Done, So Long and Thanks for All the Fish. Today is the last day of my 90 day extension of my TechNet subscription with Microsoft. It was a great service and offered a lot of value for anyone with their own lab setup at home. Now that it’s done we still have access to a whole load of excellent resources. Virtual instructor-led courses can be had at the Microsoft Virtual Academy. Give a product a test drive by using TechNet Virtual Labs. December 8, 2014. Peddling...

Technology, film, travel, etc. Time to Stretch the Brain – PowerShell! I bought a copy of Learn Windows PowerShell in a Month of Lunches. Written by a guy named Don Jones. I carried that book around with me for more than a month of lunches and only opened it a couple of times. Then the second edition came out. Ugh. Have I had that book for that long? Apparently so. Time to learn some PowerShell. As an extra motivator I work with a Microsoft PowerShell MVP. So maybe I can put a dent in this book.

Technology, film, travel, etc. It’s a Wrap, 2014! In May Elke and I jetted off to Iceland for a week. What Canadian goes to a cold place having just survived the winter in Canada? Beautiful country, loads of great food, lots of photographs to bring home, along with a few lopapaysa. To keep us warm this winter. The people are super friendly so if you get the chance to see Iceland I say to you GO! Next year, more! We walked a lot, so many hills! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. December 24, 2014.

Thursday, August 20, 2015. Sub/Verse Zine's Premier Issue! I have been working for months on this zine! For now, check out this peek at the issue, an article by me called "Is This It: A Strokes Review.". The first thing that got me interested in the Strokes was their inspiration taken from Lou Reed. I love Reed's work, and his dirty glam sound. But where is the band that can describe and catch the mood of modern New York? In Is This It,. The Strokes on Reed's job as street reporter. Critically Critical Critic
Wednesday, 10 January 2018. Movie: In This Corner Of The World (2017). But "Grave of the Fireflies", it is not. Where "Fireflies" was able to encapsulate the devastation and leave everyone with a heart in certain tears, "Corner" lacks the gut-wrenching tragedy because it glosses over one of the most cataclysmic and destructive times in human history. Mind you, I did watch it reading the subtitles, and I do think that there was a lot that was lost in the translation. Links to this post. It runs its own OS...
