http://ladiesinfashion.blogspot.com/2014/01/another-regency-hairstyle-this-time.html
Dames a la Mode. January 9, 2014. This time with how-to! This is my January entry to Trystan's Accessories Challenge! I'm now 2 for 4 months, but given that next month is jewelry, I think I'm safe for that one, too :). NOTE: I wasn't originally going to post this tutorial, because the pictures didn't turn out as well as I hoped and I kinda dropped the ball on the last part of it, but all of my clamoring fans (and by all I mean 3) begged, so here you go! A few months ago I ran across this gorgeous image:.

Dames a la Mode: February 2014
http://ladiesinfashion.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Dames a la Mode. February 13, 2014. Millinery Flowers as Trim on Regency Ball Gowns. And I decided on a whim (spurred by a wonderful Southwest sale) to head up to Massachusetts for the Dolley Madison Ball hosted by the Commonwealth Vintage Dancers. I used to live in the Boston area but hadn't been back in over three years, so it was a wonderful opportunity to visit friends and play in Regency clothes in on fell swoop! I decided to actually use some of the hundreds of paper millinery flowers. Each festoon...

Dames a la Mode. January 2, 2012. 2011 Costume Year in Review. I started 2011 by making a resolution- something that I haven't done in years- to produce at least one piece of costume every month. In addition to that broad goal, I also had a list of things I wanted to accomplish:. 1810 working day dress-. 1810 something fancier dress-. 1750s linen gown with robings-. 1750s wool gown with robings-. 1770s campfollower wool gown-. Check again, big time, again! At Gennessee Country Village in June. And then t...

Dames a la Mode: May 2012
http://ladiesinfashion.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Dames a la Mode. May 20, 2012. I had the opportunity to head down to the Virginia tidewater yesterday to attend a delightful regency picnic hosted by the Regency Society of Virginia. They are a newly formed group so this was their first costumed event, and it was worth the 2 hour drive to go down! Courtesy of the Regency Society of Virginia. Not only were we treated to truly perfect weather, but we got to play around at Bacon's Castle, a 17th Century (yes! It's worth the trip! They were very comfortable!

Dames a la Mode: My first costume of 2014
http://ladiesinfashion.blogspot.com/2014/01/my-first-costume-of-2014.html
Dames a la Mode. January 5, 2014. My first costume of 2014. I was supposed to finish 2013 with an Regency Christmas party, but thanks to crazy winter weather it became my first event of 2014 and a Regency 12th Night Party! A large group of us went to Alice's incredible 1820s home to celebrate the holiday, and I can't say enough about this amazing house! And every time I am around my friends I am astonished at how talented and beautiful they are. The costumes were just spectacular! For giving me the sourc...

Dames a la Mode: Laure Bro's Voile Gown
http://ladiesinfashion.blogspot.com/2011/09/laure-bros-voile-gown.html
Dames a la Mode. September 16, 2011. Laure Bro's Voile Gown. First I have to start out by saying I am amused that my inagural post is about 19th Century fashion. That is very out of the ordinary for me, as I focus almost solely on fashion from the 1770s and 1780s, but my need to dress up and do fun things has forced me to finally venture out of my comfort zone, so I present you with my most recent creation. There was some invention when it came to the back of the bodice. Obviously, the painting gives...

Dames a la Mode: August 2013
http://ladiesinfashion.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Dames a la Mode. August 10, 2013. A successful regency hairstyle. I recently was able to create a REALLY successful Regency hairstyle for a fashion show I did at the Smithsonian. I think what put this over the top was the recent addition of bangs. They hang down to the top of my cheekbones in real life, and I wear them swept to the side, but boy howdy did they do the trick for pert little Regency curls! Put on. You then do a second ponytail around that with all of your hair, and the first one keeps t...
