ctmcvicker: My Life in Art, Part2

http://charlesmcvicker.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-life-in-art-part2.html

Saturday, January 21, 2012. My Life in Art, Part2. I spent the summer after high school loading baggage into Greyhound busses at the Pittsburgh terminal on the graveyard shift, three to eleven PM. It is called that because one loses touch with the rest of the world. You are out of sync with everything. So I was ready, in September, for a new experience. And I was more than ready to leave Carnegie. Watercolor was my first medium and is still an important part of my work. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

ctmcvicker: December 2012

http://charlesmcvicker.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 19, 2012. The article in a recent New York Times concerning an alleged rape of a high-school girl by two star football players on the Steubenville, Ohio high-school football team resurrected memories of my time living in Steubenville. What happened to me is minor compared to the experience of that poor girl, but it is indicative of the same attitude, and I have never forgotten it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). ctmcvicker: February 2011

http://charlesmcvicker.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 20, 2011. My grandmother was a helpless creature suffering from a severe case of asthma. She spent much time at the kitchen table, making a tent of newspapers and inhaling strange incense-like fumes, which must have been thought therapeutic at the time. She was a member of the DAR and had a noble family lineage. The ladies of the DAR would meet at their home regularly. In the 1930’s, during the depression, my father was unemployed for six years. We had income that my mother mad...He had ...

ctmcvicker: MY LIFE IN ART Part i

http://charlesmcvicker.blogspot.com/2011/11/my-life-in-art-part-i.html

Tuesday, November 29, 2011. MY LIFE IN ART Part i. My Life in Art. At this time we lived in Steubenville Ohio. We seemed to live in communities that fostered singers. Canonsburg was the home of Perry Como, and Steubenville of Dean Martin. I never met either of them but I believe Perry’s father cut my hair, being one of the local barbers. If I had had the insight to save those early comic books I would be a multi-millionaire today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). MY LIFE IN ART Part i.

ctmcvicker: October 2014

http://charlesmcvicker.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 15, 2014. I have his cheap violin hanging on my living-room wall. My aunts and uncles were bright and successful for the time. One became an electrical engineer, two were educators, another a nurse. and my father became a professional musician. I have just finished a fictionalized history of New York City by Edward Rutherford, and now am launching into Follett’s similar version of the 20th Century. Perhaps I should recreate my grandfather’s life. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
