Centre for Christian Spirituality

Centre for Christian Spirituality. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. On the poison of prejudice. The history of Jacob and his uncle Laban shows that even in biblical times precious relationships could be infected and damaged by the poison of prejudice. In Genesis 31 we read of Jacob’s disappointment when he noticed that as if overnight, his uncle’s face had changed – he no longer carried the same expression of friendliness as he had the previous day and the day before that. Centre for Christian Spirituality: May 2010

Centre for Christian Spirituality. Thursday, May 20, 2010. You don't take a high note, you collapse into it. I truly felt capable on some occasions to perform even better than the artist himself. This is a liberating truth and challenge – especially during this time of Pentecost where we believe that the Spirit has been poured out and is already moving within us. Centre for Christian Spirituality: We live in a benevolent universe

http://centreforchristianspirituality.blogspot.com/2010/04/we-live-in-benevolent-universe.html

Centre for Christian Spirituality. Friday, April 30, 2010. We live in a benevolent universe. Apparently Albert Einstein, that brilliant physicist who became known for his theory of relativism and who also provided the theoretical building blocks for the development of the first atomic bomb, towards the end of his life made this remarkable statement: “Now I see that the only question is ‘Is the universe friendly? I have defeated the world”. We need to demonstrate to the world, especially to those who feel...

Centre for Christian Spirituality. Friday, May 22, 2009. The courage to become naked. What is unique about these films is that they, through interviews with the artists and the production team, also take you behind the scenes. In this way you are able to meet the artists close up, to hear their voices, to share in their feelings and listen to their joys and anxieties. Centre for Christian Spirituality. Monday, May 11, 2009. Have you spoken to God about this? The real test comes when we lose control; when...

Centre for Christian Spirituality: March 2010

http://centreforchristianspirituality.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Centre for Christian Spirituality. Monday, March 29, 2010. Where were they going? Why were they walking? How far had they still to go? Was there a home somewhere nearby – perhaps on a farm or in a neighbour’s shelter? And then the more painful questions: How did they feel? What would the night with its darkness and strange shadows do to the little boy? And the mother who had to carry a burden of care and provision for a frail and frightened child – what was she feeling? Centre for Christian Spirituality.

Tuesday, May 20, 2014. I Need to be More Loving. I know so little of what love in its fullness can be. My love is marred by jealousy,. Scarred by envy,. I withhold love at the slightest provocation,. And withdraw myself from involvement with others. For fear of being hurt. Still, I know something of what love can be like. I can remember being forgiven generously and freely. By someone I had wronged. I can remember being comforted and cared for. When, bruised and battered, I crept home. I can even hope.

Is that what you mean to say? Before I rise to my defense,. Before I speak in hurt or fear,. Before I build that wall of words,. Tell me, did I really hear? Words are windows, or they’re walls,. OpenSourceSpirituality: August 2013

http://opensourcespirituality.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 01, 2013. There was once a stonecutter, who was dissatisfied with himself and with his position in life. One day, he passed a wealthy merchant's house, and through the open gateway, saw many fine possessions and important visitors. "How powerful that merchant must be! Thought the stonecutter. He became very envious, and wished that he could be like the merchant. Then he would no longer have to live the life of a mere stonecutter. He thought. "I wish that I could be a high official! Then ...
