Monday, June 26, 2006. I really like Karen Martini's recipes, the ingredients always create a really lovely balance of tastes and texture. Her new book. Is out (one for the wish list perhaps) but this came from her weekly column in Sunday Life. Is essentially any hard cheese made from goat's milk. It is very salty but the combination of the cheese and pistachio in these meat balls was amazing. Perfect cold weather food! Karen Martini's Pork Polpette with Pistachios, Lemon and Cannellini Beans. 1) I confe...

This is the Giant Avocado; it's found in Tweed Heads in New South Wales, outside of Tropical Fruit World and directions are. Apparently this used to be "Avocadoland"! This is Larry the Lobster who is about 18 metres tall. He can be found in Kingston S.E. in South Australia, along the Princes Highway. It's 14 metres high and made out of cold cast steel. Monday, December 12, 2005. Cape Byron is the most easterly point of the Australian mainland and the lighthouse is apparently Australia's most powerful. This was taken from Tallow Beach and the green "blob" in the back is Cape Byron! Clean and comfortable, backpacking to private cottages. Relaxed atmosphere and right by Belongil Beach, 10 minutes walk to the Main Beach in town. Yoga school is a short walk away. Onsite cafe serves delicious breakfasts but be prepared to wait, the atmosphere is. I get excit...

Friday, March 31, 2006. Lord of the Fries. No, it's not a typo. Lord of the Fries. Is a specialty "fries" shop that sells burgers too. You'll find fries covered in "international sauces" - aussie, mexican, poutine. Of interest was the Poutine. Not only is this French-Canadian delicacy a whole discussion topic in itself, there was a friendly lady in line telling all within earshot about the wonders of poutine as she is from Quebec. Lord of the Fries. Cnr of Elizabeth and Flinders Sts,. Food for the tired.

Monday, February 27, 2006. More Year of the Dog. Well so much has happened since my last blog so I'll try and make up for the lack of content lately! Continuing with the Chinese New Year theme, here are some pictures taken in Box Hill where there were plenty of festivities. M stalls selling plastic cherry blossoms to banners of blessings, there was plenty available to brighten up homes with! And of course, what is Chinese New Year without food? Here we have spare ribs, tofu, chicken, prawns,.

Sunday, May 14, 2006. I needed to bake a birthday cake and in my revision madness, had seen the Honey Chocolate Cake in Nigella's Feast and had my heart set on it. Those who got to taste my cake commented on the honey flavour as this rarely comes out when heated, as I typed the recipe I wondered if perhaps the muscovado sugar. When the cake came out of the oven, the smell reminded me of the Magic Faraway Tree. Nigella's Honey Chocolate Cake. 100g Dark chocolate, broken into pieces. 3b) Beat together the ...
