The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Stuff We Listened To: The Cure: "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" (1987). Is a return to goth glory after The Cure's foray into pop with 1987's Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. Josh Jackson, Paste Magazine. Recently, in my car, I scrolled through the hundreds of albums on my iPod, and settled on one I hadn't listened to in a while, The Cure's well-known 1987 smash hit, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. Makes you wond...

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: Are You Ready for Some... Free Time on Sundays?
http://gentleart.blogspot.com/2014/09/are-you-ready-for-some-free-time-on.html
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Tuesday, September 02, 2014. Are You Ready for Some. Free Time on Sundays? I was angry. The Giants won four years earlier, crushing my team's hope of a perfect 19-0 season. Why did they have to win again? No one thinks Eli Manning is as good as Tom Brady, so why has he beaten Brady twice in The Big Game? Color commentator argues that the other team's player is better than his counterpart on the Pats'? I'm going to fire-bom...

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: If he can run, the Ravens might be interested.

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Thursday, September 04, 2014. If he can run, the Ravens might be interested. A couple of days ago, I rambled about how I will not be watching the NFL this season, or in the foreseeable future, due to many factors, including their tacit acceptance of domestic abuse. I mentioned that my favorite sport is largely free of these kinds of incidents. The key word being "largely". Now, I used the word, "Allegedly", as that is what...

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: You can take the cook out of the kitchen, but no, you can't.
http://gentleart.blogspot.com/2014/09/you-can-take-cook-out-of-kitchen-but-no.html
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Monday, September 08, 2014. You can take the cook out of the kitchen, but no, you can't. I've been trying to write something here everyday, just to keep writing, and to hopefully get into the habit of writing everyday. I missed a few days over the weekend, because I needed some time to get stuff done around the house, but also because I needed some time to relax, which I did while not doing stuff around the house. Which I ...

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: Much like New York City, this post is big.
http://gentleart.blogspot.com/2014/09/much-like-new-york-city-this-post-is-big.html
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Much like New York City, this post is big. As a result of this, I found myself thinking a lot about New York City on and around September 11th, as my wife and I were planning on visiting my in-laws in the City on the 13th and 14th. Had I known exactly where we'd been staying, I'd have thought about it a bit more. For example, I didn't know Bowling Green. Enjoyable than the actual Times Square.

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Thursday, September 18, 2014. Maybe he thought the Ray Rice video was just another Ice Bucket Challenge? A couple of days ago, the NFL Players' Union filed an appeal of Ray Rice's indefinite suspension. AS much as it pains me to admit it, this is the right move. The girlfriend refused to press charges, and then married Rice. Everyone who wanted this swept under the rug used those facts - and the perfunctory two game su...

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: Google Drive for Old People
http://gentleart.blogspot.com/2014/09/google-drive-for-old-people.html
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Google Drive for Old People. I sometimes joke that I am, but I'm only 35.917 years old. To the high school kids I pass at the bus stop on my way in to work, I might be old, but in general? Not so much. That said, am I out of touch? It's like telling someone they need to eat healthier, and then telling them they're not allowed to eat vegetables. Is that like Google Drive for old people? But th...

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Sunday, August 31, 2014. When most people think of Derby Day, they think of horses, funny hats, mint juleps, and 8 hours of coverage for an event that last about 2 minutes. For me, Derby Day makes me think of well, horses, yes, but also rednecks, fair food, and a year's build up to something that has to be anti-climactic 90% of the time*. Basically, it's the Redneck Super Bowl. Goats have weird eyes. Why does this happen?

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: Independence Day, Too
http://gentleart.blogspot.com/2015/03/independence-day-too.html
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies. Presenting the future with the gift of the past. Friday, March 13, 2015. Independence Day, Too. Ok, so it sounds like we're (finally? I'm not sure why people were clamoring so vociferously for a sequel, but they're finally getting it. The studio almost literally threw money at Devlin to write a sequel after the crushing success of the first one, but he threw it back in their faces and said, "Dean Devlin ain't for sale, bitches! 1 What do we call this movie? Think about t...
