Handcrafts | Boomu Women's Group

We make a variety of handcrafts including rattles and woven fabrics but our main activity is basket weaving. We make a wide variety of baskets using banana fibre, sorghum straw, papyrus and raffia. We sell honey made from our beekeeping activities and we also stock crafts from members of the community as well as associated sites. Boomu Women’s Group was formed in 1999, in the village of Kihaguzi, with the aim of fighting poverty in the area by creating economic and social development. So far we have done this through raising the incomes of our members.
