Books and Bacon: Mini Monday, the Shameful Neglect Edition
http://booksandbacon.blogspot.com/2011/05/mini-monday-shameful-neglect-edition.html
Salty, crispy, booky goodness. Monday, May 16, 2011. Mini Monday, the Shameful Neglect Edition. It's been ages since I've posted much of anything, let alone a mini Monday, but I read a little story tonight that is perfect for one, so here we go. At 46 pages this was a cute, fluffy little read, but there could have been real depth to the story if it was expanded to about 2-3 times that length. Labels: Mini Review Monday. May 17, 2011 at 1:23 AM. May 22, 2011 at 6:36 PM. May 22, 2011 at 11:08 PM. We are th...
Books and Bacon: Review: She Went All the Way
http://booksandbacon.blogspot.com/2011/04/review-she-went-all-way.html
Salty, crispy, booky goodness. Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Review: She Went All the Way. I've been rereading some old favorites and recent reads.trying to cut down on the old nook budget which, due to nausea and self-pity, was beginning to balloon out of control. So I took another pass at Meg Cabot. S She Went All the Way. Her stand-alone chick lit romance novel. Background: I never read The Princess Diaries. The Romance. Sorry, guys, but anytime a character utters the line "Has anyone ever told you t...

Books and Bacon: October 2010
http://booksandbacon.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Salty, crispy, booky goodness. Thursday, October 28, 2010. Review: Otherwise Engaged by Suzanne Finnamore. Review by Lora (DivaBetty). Rating: An infinite quantity of bacon. As good as bacon itself. Confession: This is my favorite book of all time. I can quote long passages and snort with hilarity over them despite repetition. If I had to pick one book forever, it wouldn't be the life-affirming. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Or the ambitious allegory. Premise: The interior monologue. Review: Eve yearns for, ...

It's All About Me: September 2011
http://bektold.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Sunday, September 25, 2011. I'm Magic, Baby. Next weekend the Discovery class starts. The first lesson is Soundtracks. I might refine the one I've already put together in Magic. I've already done a little bit of fiddling with it. But mostly I want to poke around in tropes and with my collage (which is still 99% in my head and 0% assembled.). Have I shared my soundtrack yet? Back to December- Taylor Swift. Fuck You- Cee Lo Green. Oh, oh, oh! I thin...

It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Saturday, December 31, 2011. The Book List- 2011. Here it comes. The hairy, scary list of over 300 books that I read this year. (There are a fair number of category and novella length stories in here, so it's not quite as impressive as it sounds at first.) I've bolded. My favorites. The ones that are both bolded. And starred * *. Were my very most favorite. I've reread many of the starred ones a time or two already. 2 Desperate Choices- Kathy Ivan.

It's All About Me: Because I Really Needed Another Project

It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Saturday, February 25, 2012. Because I Really Needed Another Project. Look what arrived on my doorstep today! Lots and lots of yarn. I've been feeling the need to knit for charity for a few months now. But not just any charity. I've been wanting to knit for homeless LGBT youth. Did you know that somewhere between 5 and 10% of youth in the US identify as LGBT, but 20-40% of homeless youth are LGBT? And now, I'm going to cast on for another hat.
It's All About Me: Update- Sorry Everybody!

It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Monday, March 12, 2012. Didn't mean to leave you hanging. The mammogram went very well. It didn't hurt at all. So no excuses- get the girls checked! And on the positive side, I now have a baseline mammogram. That could be helpful in the future, considering I have a family history of breast cancer. Yes, the ta-tas get squished yearly. Not fun, but a good idea. Maintenance is so much better than the alternative. Glad you are doing better! Simple tem...

http://bektold.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Friday, November 25, 2011. It's been a tough couple of days. My body has apparently decided that sleep is off the menu. I haven't managed to fall asleep before 4am since Sunday night. Morning. Whatever. Out there, with all those germs. No, thank you. I will lay in bed and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and read. Maybe in a little bit I'll watch some TV. That's about as Black as I can handle. Links to this post. It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Here in Indiana we have a take-and-bake pizza place called Papa Murphy's. An Irish pizza joint. This delights me. In the last few days they've been running ads for a special Jack-o-Lantern pizza. Isn't that the goofiest thing ever? I may be about 25 years too old for trick-or-treating, but never let it be said that I don't know how to have a good time. Lip Balm of the Day: Lavender Lemonade. Links to this post. Most of...

It's All About Me. Life in the Little Bedroom in Indiana. Sunday, January 29, 2012. Frog in a Party Hat. I finished a new knitting project tonight. Don't adjust your screens, it really is this bright. OK, maybe the color doesn't come through really well in this picture, but trust me, it's BRIGHT. Clearly, this is a guy who needs at least one more warm pair of handknit socks. Lip Balm of the Day: Pink Cake. Links to this post. Monday, January 23, 2012. The other one says:. Or how tourism, travel and education is all in a days work. July 16, 2013. So it is summer. And clearly with summer comes the opportunity to put as many activities as possible into a time span of 10 weeks. Not a moment to be bored, let alone catch up on much over due posting on the TEC 2013 conference held in early May. It was a great conference held at awesome venues ( Royal Roads University. And Westin Bear Mountain. A recap of the conference can be found here. Onwards to the summer season 🙂. People w...

Salty, crispy, booky goodness. Monday, April 30, 2012. Clear Water by Amy Lane. And Patrick has bought into this way of thinking, calling himself a fuckup and constantly apologizing and talking about how he needs to get his shit together. But the Patrick that we see, and that Whiskey sees, is a kind, smart, curious, big-hearted, vulnerable man desperately in need of people who will believe in him. Also, the last chapter was sweet, but it was pretty anti-climactic and could have been cut down a lot. So, w...

I'm a writer and a homeschooling mom. What could possibly go wrong? Thursday, December 12, 2013. In which we say goodbye to Mary Grace. I started blogging in this space back in 2006. Some days it seems like yesterday. Others, a lifetime ago. For most of my kids, it was. A lifetime ago; I hit publish on this blog's very first post nearly a year before Oli was born. I was Momma then to Jo (9), Atticus (6), and Logan (4). Adoption wasn't yet on our radar. Did I really want out there? In the end, I chose to ...
