The Smile Spot . . .: December 2010
http://smilecreationscrafts.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Tiny scarf for charity. My church has a giving tree - - you pick an ornament, purchase the gift written on the ornament, and return it to the church. The gift goes to one of the children of a needy family in the parish. The ornament I chose said a hat, scarf, and gloves set for a 4 year old boy. A nice simple scarf for a young boy in need. :). Or rather, fleece, lovely fleece! This was from just three sheep. There were at least 30 to be shorn! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). March 31 from 9-5. I Read; I Recommend. The Smile Spot . . .: Occupy what?
http://smilecreationscrafts.blogspot.com/2011/11/occupy-what.html
Wednesday, November 9, 2011. So I'll be honest. While I've seen some posts mentioning Occupy Wall Street, and I saw a crazy picture of tents on an Oakland freeway, I really don't know what exactly that means. However, a couple days ago, I came across the above image on Facebook . And I really like it. Even without understanding completely the Occupy Wall Street part, I support the sentiment. As I learn about cool hand craft gatherings, or stand-out Mom and Pop shops, I'll blog about them. I'm Patience, a...

Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Another market bag by Oat Couture. This time the bag is for Christine, a student and my neighbor across the street. She loves pink and purple, so off I went to Joann Fabrics last Saturday, to purchase some cotton yarn in those colors. The bag itself always knits up rather quickly, which makes it the perfect project to grab when I'm feeling impatient (hahahaha) or recently unproductive. Three days after casting on, I have a bag! I've never been but my friend Reluctant Mango. Said it was a fun little event last year, with spinning demos, sheep shearing (obviously), and finished items for sale. And they shared some homemade lamb chili (yum! I think I'm there. :). Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). March 31 from 9-5. I Read; I Recommend.

The Smile Spot . . .: A Quick Stocking - How To
http://smilecreationscrafts.blogspot.com/2011/11/quick-stocking-how-to.html
Sunday, November 20, 2011. A Quick Stocking - How To. 1 Fold placemat (inside out) in half width-wise (short ways). 2 Trace the outline of a stocking on the placemat. The top of the stocking should be on the finished edge of the placemat and the toe should be against the folded edge, so you don't have to sew two extra seams. 3 Sew along the traced lines, then trim off the excess fabric no more than 1/8" from the seam. 4 Turn the stocking right-side out. You have a stocking! March 31 from 9-5. I'm Patienc...

The Smile Spot . . .: January 2009
http://smilecreationscrafts.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19, 2009. Good morning, and happy Monday! I thought this morning I'd share something strange I came across while reading the Lion Brand email newsletter: stainless steel yarn. Yes, you read that correctly (although you may want to do as I did, and click through the link above to confirm that your eyes are properly interpreting the letters above). This yarn is 75% wool and 25% STAINLESS STEEL. I wonder how soft that is? Is there any real drape to steel? Pre- and post-consumer recycled yarn.
