The Wieners: November 2010
http://www.thewieners.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. Vienna skiing at the Park! Day 2 of the late November snowfall in Vienna! Carrying the kids back up hill after attempting to pack some of the snow down. Before going to the park. Really, it actually gets them pumped up and makes them feel like they can do anything. As it was, Oliver was vacillating from extreme excitment and giggling to absolute fear. That's the fru...

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. The fun part about seeing the museum with friends is that they had never seen most of the exhibits (and honestly, neither have we! What a wonderful spot! Here are the kids all weighing different blocks to find out which one was the heaviest. I'm not sure we ever figured it out with so many kids taking the blocks on and off the scales. There is a little unfinished house ...

The Wieners: My Beeblets and the things they say

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. My Beeblets and the things they say. Elora is becoming quite the spiritual little girl. She loves to go to church, learn about the scriptures, sing primary songs, and especially pray. Her favorite things, next to watching Blues Clues or Mr Rogers is actually listening to Scripture Stories. Ollie: I'm a princess. Dad: Princesses are girls, are you a girl? Oliver went thr...

The Wieners: Cafe Schwarzenberg

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. Elora, as you can tell, is always thrilled to sip hot chocolate in fancy cafes. Here's Serban and his wife Edith from Romania. They had never tried Kaiserschmarrn so we insisted they order it. We got the Topfenstudel with vanille cream sauce and preiselbeeren (sort of like cranberries). Yum, yum yum. Comments are appreciated. I love getting comments! Dirty Teddy Fan Page.

The Wieners: Mehr Cultural Observation(en)
http://www.thewieners.com/2011/02/mehr-cultural-observationen.html
Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. Germany and Austria are probably the only countries where you'll ever see a Camper Trailer being towed by a BMW! Not much cultural to observe here. But it's a house overrun with weeds. In Vienna. Around the corner from our apartment. Strange! You'd expect to see something like this out in the countryside, but not in one of the nicer neighborhoods in Vienna. They had fun...

The Wieners: Chris' Big 3-0

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. Chris had his 30th birthday about a week ago, so of course we had to have a party. I asked if he wanted to go out, and instead said he wanted BBQ pork sandwiches. Two weeks away from moving home to America, and we had a party with the best American food we could make with Austrian ingredients! The kids will each get to celebrate at different grandparents' homes over the...

The Wieners: Gingerbread House

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. Our friend Brooke gave us a gingerbread house kit at Christmas time, but we never got around to making it until recently! We did not have all the right ingredients to make frosting, but the box said that you can melt sugar to glue the house together. Oliver kept dropping the candy down the chimney instead of putting it on the house. And here he is saying, "Pleeeeeaaaase!

The Wieners: We're Coming to America

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. We're Coming to America. BUT we got lucky and found out that Air Berlin flies to Florida for cheap during the winter. We ended up getting home to Arizona for about $1600. It sounded like a great deal. but we had four different flights and it took us 29 hours to get home. Wow. Air Berlin is supposed to be a budget airline, but it is GREAT! We flew into Fort Meyers, Flori...

Wiener means Viennese or someone from Vienna in German. The "W" is pronounced as a "V" so we are not actually wee-ners, we are vee-ners. As you can see, the best part of the park was the zipline, which the kids absolutely loved riding together. I didn't think it would work, but they actually preferred riding it this way! Here we are in front of the palace. Nice place for a classroom. Inside the museum there was this beautiful carriage. Elora loves these old "Cinderella Carriages". Chris took us to a litt...

So we're stilling running way behind on blog posts. Here's the church Christmas party. Elora was excited to fix up the Christmas tree in the entryway. She enjoys rearranging decorations. Here's Oliver hanging out with the missionaries. Elora was almost as excited as Daddy to hear that Santa was coming soon! Here's Karen and Brooke. I know ...
