Java Jesus: It's like Ultimate Fighting, but With the Bible
http://caffecclesiology.blogspot.com/2009/07/its-like-ultimate-fighting-but-with.html
Sunday, July 12, 2009. It's like Ultimate Fighting, but With the Bible. Okay, I think I get it. Preaching is a competitive sport, and the one who can interpret biblical truth in the most extreme and stringent way is the winner. Say it with style and it's like a slam dunk, except the spectators say "amen". Posted by Joe B. The extreme and stringent way theory doesnt just work in preaching, it also is quite handy in the talk radio world. And plenty of other arenas. July 13, 2009 at 10:04 AM.

Java Jesus: Hagee Clip. Huh?
http://caffecclesiology.blogspot.com/2009/07/hagee-clip-huh.html
Sunday, July 12, 2009. Hagee Clip. Huh? I found this on a site quaintly called "Hard-Preaching-Dot-Com", on the "Heresy" tab. What do you make of it? What's the point he's trying to make? What could he possibly mean that "Jesus did not come to be the messiah"? I wonder how he explains why Jesus' disciples refer to him as "the christ" some 515 times? Posted by Joe B. Java Jesus: The Hidden Curriculum
http://caffecclesiology.blogspot.com/2009/04/hidden-curriculum.html
Monday, April 27, 2009. And yet another one from Leadership Journal. Your Hidden Curriculum: What do people learn from you about the Christian life? Sometimes it's what you never intended to teach. Here's what Sr. Scribe JoeB had to say about the article:. The invisible curriculum can be positive, by the way. And it is overwhelmingly powerful. I have experienced communities that overflow with love in the holy spirit, and it is earthshaking. In evangelism terms it is like the irresistible force. We divide...

The unChurch: January 2011
http://theunchurchblog.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Church has us 4 hours a week.the other 164, we're The unChurch! Sunday, January 16, 2011. Why is it So Hard? First a bit of background, then a quick story, and then to the question, "Why is it so doggone hard for a church to follow Jesus? After all, it's a great opportunity to introduce Isabela to a lady who can shepherd her soul, right? So, what was the response? If you guessed "total silence" you guessed right! In other words, why is it so difficult for. Posted by Joe B. Links to this post. We call our...

The unChurch: "Choosing Celibacy"
http://theunchurchblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/choosing-celibacy.html
Church has us 4 hours a week.the other 164, we're The unChurch! Thursday, December 2, 2010. So what do you think of this? He’s open and he’s struggling and he’s lonely and he’s accountable and he’s waiting. And his story made me empathetic with the story of those who struggle to be celibate. His theology is simple: he’s been washed pure in the graces of God’s forgiveness and he’s waiting for the restoration of all things. In between forgiveness and restoration he struggles. Are WE open to it? The second ...

Java Jesus: Professional Player loves Jesus?
http://caffecclesiology.blogspot.com/2009/05/professional-player-loves-jesus.html
Monday, May 25, 2009. Professional Player loves Jesus? Got this today from my friend Jeremiah. Went to LCC with him and he has definitely taken things in a different direction then we thought. I know it is sometimes hard to reconcile these two worlds, but if we really are to embrace the world around us, why not be a financial planner, a software developer, or even a professional blogger/poker player? Producing a series of strategy videos for pokerlistings.com/pokerroad.com. Wow, a Chroistian poker pro?
