And then, quite abruptly, in 1999, I moved home to northern Cape Breton and became a fisherman. In a community that has little else by the way of social services or infrastructure, we dreamed big. My father, Captain Cyril Fraser, calls to tell me we have to get the traps down to the wharf early because the weather has changed. I walk to work and we start on the traps.
