Well, a structured method anyway! I always seem to be unable to follow the same routine when setting up the scope, so tonight I plan to produce and document “The Plan”! It looks initially like:. Use Wixey to set Altitude. Use Compass to set approximate North. Align finder with main scope. Align finder with guide scope.

The Alan Norman Observatory Blog. Fly me to the moon, let me swing among the stars……. I knew this would happen……. August 19, 2008. Posted by astronomerdaz in General. I start off with all good intentions – and then life comes along! Not posted since May, which is terrible really, but things have been hectic at work (aren’t they always, I hear you cry). So, to save a lot of waffling, here’s a quick run-down of recent activities in no particular order…. Visited Sir Patrick Moore. Still, it was a break!

A short session | The Alan Norman Observatory Blog

https://astronomerdaz.wordpress.com/2008/05/12/a-short-session

The Alan Norman Observatory Blog. Fly me to the moon, let me swing among the stars……. May 12, 2008. Posted by astronomerdaz in Imaging Reports. Set up in the afternoon as, again, the evening looked promising. Bit of a struggle in the building site that is the garden, but work will be starting on that very soon! So you never know. The moon came out better, but I’m having trouble with Registax. Reading the native AVI from the Y800 codec. It could be a corruption as I can dump and recombine in VirtualDub.

John's Astro Blog: M42 - Over the last three years

http://johnsastroblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/m42-over-last-three-years.html

A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Friday, 4 March 2011. M42 - Over the last three years. I thought it might be interesting to look back at my attempts at M42 over the last three years and compare the results. All taken with the same 450d. Konus Vista 80s, NexStar SLT (AltAz). C80ED, Guided HEQ5. The reason my first attempt is so read, I used a Semi APO filter to help with the CA, and it removed a lot of blue. Top 10 astrologers in.

John's Astro Blog: Update - Deep Sky

http://johnsastroblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/update-deep-sky.html

A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Wednesday, 23 February 2011. Update - Deep Sky. There has been a distinct lack of opportunity for deep sky this winter, mores the pity. First up, a wide field of Auriga. this was shot with the nifty fifty. I started to add the Messier clusters in Auriga to add to the widefield base image, but that's got lost somewhere. M38 and the smiley face. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). John's Astro Blog: August 2010

http://johnsastroblog.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Friday, 13 August 2010. Perseids Watch - Part the second. Another night, and it started out the same, cloudy all day, still pretty cloudy as the sun was going down, and soon cleared shortly after sundown. Once the sky got completely dark, I setup the meteor lounger, and set down at around 2230 for a viewing session. I left the kit indoors, and just enjoyed the clear skies. Links to this post. John's Astro Blog: November 2009

http://johnsastroblog.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Friday, 27 November 2009. Been testing out a change in guide camera. I only got 40 minutes in total, but it's good to know it's working ;). Anyway. I installed all the drivers and software during the day, and it was worth it, it was a bit of a faff getting the correct software installed to get the camera working as both a planetary/lunar camera and a guide camera. A couple at full frame, about 38fps.

And with some colour. And the Storm moon. Been some great Lunar halo's over the past couple of months, these are all 2 frame vertical panorama's. And then a couple of mosaics. most complete, one spoilt by cloud. Only 7 panes to test it out. 12 August 2011 at 14:10. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Monday, 26 April 2010. Deep Sky - An Update. This is a bit shorter than the Moon update. All these were shot with the Canon 450d attached to the C80ED, mounted on a guided HEQ5, guided with a QHY5v attached to the Konus Vista 80s with PHD. Night 1 31 subs of 10 minutes. Night 2 added - 55 subs of 10 minutes. And the final result, Night 3 added - 76 subs of 10 minutes. Mars and The Beehive (M44). I've d...

A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Tuesday, 8 March 2011. GSO 6"RC Proper Deep Sky First Light. Finally. a clear night without a layer of high mist. I knew what I was going to do, so got setup, used a 1 star sync with EQMOD, then the goto to M51, and that plonked M51 within the FOV of the 450d on the RC. 16 x 10 minutes @ ISO800, darks and flats. A journal of my Journey in Astronomy. And associated pitfalls, trips, stumbles, successes and triumphs. Saturday, 13 March 2010. Shared observing and M3. I've not had time to write this up till now. But there we go. From there onto M42 (before it got to low, and the wings of the nebula were clear in the eyepice. M44, another stunning display of stars, we also spent some time looking at the Mirfak association and the double cluster. After stacking and processing, here's the result. Mounted on an HEQ5.
